Splankna: The Redemption of Energy Healing for the Kingdom of God

Shame on (some of) us
Speaking to two bad reviews for this book, specifically to the pastor one and the girl who was ministered to and (apparently) didn't listen:First of all, Sarah Thiessen is a professional licensed therapist, not a pastor (though she did go to Bible college), & has been led (reluctantly, with the same Christian reservations this pastor reviewer has, as the book makes clear) by the Father to open her understanding that it was actually Him leading her to put her budding practice into His Hands for Him to reach parts of His people that nothing else has been able to reach in therapy. This book is about psychological tools in the therapy field that He has expanded / redeemed to follow His Lead in setting captives free in therapeutic prayer sessions. Although both this pastor reviewer & the author are both obviously solidly fundamentally Bible-rooted Christian, this is primarily an apples to oranges comparison to expect a book about placing therapeutic tools of the psychological field in the Hands of the Almighty God to be pastoral in it's scope.Secondly, a human being is an incredibly deep & amazing creation which is mostly wordless (i.e. from an intuitive, awareness, feeling/emotion-registering perspective at the "subconscious" level). The Father has given a way for someone in the psychological field using psychological tools to make actual change in His people. All this protocol is doing is allowing this deeper wordless part of our soul to communicate in order to resolve unresolved emotions at this deep level by the Lord Himself. Period. Please, please be careful not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit Who actually ministers in these sessions - because you know by the Word that it will not be forgiven you (you know where this verse is, spoken by The Master Himself). If you think your own inner being that has recorded everything you've ever experienced is akin to a Ouija board, you probably should think again. It is the inner part of us that learns to cope, to mask, to do whatever it thinks it needs to do to survive - & there's so many of us walking around bound up inside in so many different ways - sure, we survive, but the Father has given us a way here to have even more of an abundant life on top of the abundant life He's already given us in Jesus - I've been a new creation in Him for over 30 years now & nothing but nothing but nothing will ever compare with the Psalms & the rest of His Word, ever - the author never disputes that - but if He has given someone in the psychological field psychological tools to help free me even more completely under His Own Leading, bound in prayer all around, who would I be to badmouth it - ? This author sets clear & absolute boundaries that absolutely stop under Jesus' covering - I know because I've heard first hand out of her own mouth in person everything stated here.We shouldn't trash people until we actually know in depth what it is they're doing. This author gives so MANY cautions & has been so diligent to search out everything she felt she was being led to do every step of the way against the Bible she so clearly loves, respects & would never cross - & she STILL gets trashed for it. Shame on us.And far as the other bad review goes, the girl actually states that she was told she MIGHT be able to go off her medication someday - & then she states she immediately (apparently) took herself off of it -- she obviously wasn't in a place to discern between what she was told to do & what she took upon herself to do & apparently didn't have the capacity at the time to actually hear & understand the clear direction it sounds like she was given but it sounds like she has found a therapist better equipped to reach & help her so best wishes to her.

Inadequate understanding of energy, faulty logic, and shaky theology characterize this book.
While Thiessen attempts to analyze the possible connections to New Age dynamics and witchcraft that could make energy healing unsafe and illegitimate for the Christian, her lack of understanding the energy systems of the realm of darkness makes her analysis incomplete. She has also made some faulty assumptions and unfounded jumps in logic in reaching her conclusions, which attempt to justify or “redeem” this practice for Christians. Her conclusion seems to be that God’s logos is the energy that created and holds all matter together, the energy that flows through the supposed meridians of the body, and the energy that is directed through thoughts to bring change to the energy in the meridians. I am not convinced that these are all the same type of energy; nor am I convinced that any of them has been proven to be truly God’s logos. That is only her hypothesis; yet her legitimization of energy psychology and desire to separate it from Eastern religions and the power of their gods is built on this unproven hypothesis. She even goes so far as to imply that one can change the nature of the energy being used in certain practices, including witchcraft, from evil to good by what you think about it because nothing is inherently evil and unredeemable. I cannot buy this.If this energy is truly chi, it is energy emanating from the god Kundalini, who is also known as the Queen of Heaven, the feminine side of Lucifer (Lucifera), and the false holy spirit. However powerful I might think my thoughts are, I cannot change Kundalini nor the energy coming from her into something good. Therefore evaluating the validity of working with the energy meridians has to go beyond considering what she calls the “heart posture” of the person implementing the energy healing or psychology to considering much more clearly just what energy flows through those meridians. In addition to feeling that anything evil can be redeemed and used “unto God” by Christians, she amazingly concludes, after examining the dynamics of witchcraft, “The truth is that the occult is not very powerful” (p. 116). I guess that is based on her belief that you can simply change evil to good by your thoughts. Nowhere does God indicate in Scripture that we can do this with anything evil.Having read the book, I cannot buy Thiessen’s views or arguments for the legitimacy of energy healing or energy psychology for Christians. For me, it all depends on the nature of the energy flowing on the meridians, which in my opinion she has not sufficiently identified or proven not to be connected to Kundalini.

I finally understand how prayer works!
In almost 30 years of being a Christian, I have never had anyone explain to me how prayer works. Because of this book, Splankna, I finally understand prayer and how it truly makes change at the level of atoms! Sarah Thiessen was able to explain quantum physics in a why that even I could understand. Now my prayer life is stronger than ever because I have a good grasp at what is happening when I pray.I also greatly appreciated her distinguishing between Splankna and New Age/Witchcraft. It is a fine but clear distinction that is vital to understand if working in this field."Energy" is also a word/topic that is addressed and explained clearly so that this field can be redeemed for Christ.I already thought God's creation was amazing. But this book left me astounded at how God set up the universe and offers us tremendous healing opportunities through Splankna.

A deep biblical look at a challenging topic.
As leader of a Sozo ministry, one that is trained to look for wounds that can create lies, and then ask the Lord to reveal truth, this book brings the body component into the mix. We are a spirit, who lives in a body, who has a soul. All three are to be united to love, live and bring glory to Jesus.Being made in the image of God: by His design, purpose and power, should cause us to worship the only One who created it all.I found this book fascinating, extremely well written and yet the author humble of heart.

Need to know...
Great detailed explanation, if coming from an indoctrination of religious fear and labelling of anything scientific as new age and so not researching fact...accepting our body is energy and to understand it better..as a believer that we are fearfully and wonderfully made .. loved it..thankyou
