A great, reliable & consistent speedlight- real bonus to have LED light. You'll need new modifiers!
I can't help but give this a 5 star even tho I have ever so slightly mixed feeling about integrating it into my kit at this point! I am a full time pro & have been for many years & love using flash. I have at least 4 other godox speed lights in my kit bag (all standard 'regular' rectangle ones) & have been super excited to try this one!Its really well made- as all the godox equipment I have used is, its consistent- both in output & colour (certainly to the eye & looking on computer after- not a scientific measurement!) & the fact it has an LED light built in adds an extra bonus. Its actually a very useful feature- even just for some light on those dark shoots to guide everyone or to assist autofocus. Its actually bright enough to use inside to light a portrait shoot! As with previous models it used a lithium-ion battery so goodbye to AA's (woohoo!!)So why my mixed feelings? Well as I said I have lots of other speed lights & the AD200's too. The previous speed lights all share the same battery (& charger!), modifiers, brackets & actually, pretty much have the same or similar layout/ buttons. This is my slight annoyance & it really is only because I have lots of other older flash that its even a 'problem' It just means extra batteries & modifiers etc to carry until the day comes I upgrade the rest of them. I do have the AD200's too & love the look of the round head & modifiers that fit those too so they will all integrate eventually. So to summarise- if you are looking for a new flash or to change systems would I recommend this flash? Yes- definitely & you can easily expand & grow into all the other, more powerful godox flash that all integrate & work superbly together. If you are just adding it to an already heavy arsenal of godox speedlights just be aware of the differences with battery & modifiers. Having the LED light built in may swing you regardless! I know I’ll be adding more toMy kit in the coming years!

Excellent product, Excellent light!
I'd seen reviews of this product before and other photographers had been praising the Godox V1 and rightly so.I was initially sceptical about the round head and wondered what difference it would make. When used directly the round head gives a much more natural light pattern than a typical rectangular flash. The round pattern seems much smoother in shape and fills space better than the typical wide but vertically compressed fill. What does this mean in use? There's less off a difference in the drop-off, so light looks much more natural and widespread. The attached pic was taken without having to do anything in photoshop and it has a nice even light quality.Practically, the rechargeable battery just keeps going and going, and of course no need to boxes of AA batteries in the kit bag. The build is solid, the pouch is sturdy, and it takes up about the same space as a normal speedlite. The menu system is much improved over other Godox on-camera flashes like the V860II and I hope that Godox will try and use some of the features in future firmware updates to the V860II such as the much better control when using the flash as a Master for radio triggering.Flash has the built in Godox 2.4G X system and this works flawlessly. Later in the same shoot I was using 2 Godox AD200's, the V1 and the V860II for a 4 light set-up controlled with the XPro trigger and it all just works exactly like it should. The only negative thing I have to say is that..... well, it's a round head and that means it won't easily fit any speedlite brackets, so it's going to be a bit difficult using this with and standard soft-boxes when it's off camera. I'm hoping Godox can create a Bowens mount bracket like the existing ones for rectangular heads.Overall, I'm extremely happy with the Godox V1 and am saving to add a second one to the bag.

Reliability
Improvements could be made on a more user friendly on camera trigger when used with this flash, there was also some issues with the screen going blank but the LCD light still on but no screen info until you switch it off switch it on again, it has the potential to be a great product, just needs to sort some of the reliability issues and ease of use menu system improved.

Lovely Well Built Flash
I really like this Flash. It is a lot softer than your useful flash. It is a good build and it is very good value for money. The batteries are very easy to charge and they last a long time. It was delivered in a few days.
