Worth the money!
Been watching Jamie Oliver's cooking shows, haven't had any luck with store-bought garlic presses. He makes it look easy. This thing is solid and works great, no need to peel the garlic, just put it in whole and out comes the garlic. Well worth the price.

Jamie Oliver JB6300 Garlic Slices and Peels
Delivery:- Sold by MMP LLC, Prompt and acceptable delivery within 4 days (March 2010);- Received good condition; No damage, No defects on packaging and garlic peeler / Slicer.Very happy, no complaints.JO peeler / slicer Product:- Cleaning Easei. dish washing soap with clean toothbrush clears trapped bits from slicer chamber;ii. slicer chamber removable, ease of cleaning a plus;- Ease of Usei. Poped garlic clove with skin into mincer or slicer and bobs your uncle;ii. Use common sense, do your homework; Cut over sized garlic before putting into chamber if all you have are over sized garlic or do prep work after daily marketing to sort big garlic cloves from standard sized ones, most cloves fit with room to spare ( Avoid Genetically modified giant cloves :-P );- Moderately Weighted, Moderate Use with Versatilityi. Weight gives reasonable leverage to press garlic whilst not too heavy to lug around;versusa. light garlic press from China, cheap ($2), supberb forearm body building and cheaper than dumbbells, punny me chooses knife to do mincing and slicing;b. WMF heaviest garlic press gives an edge if condemned by chef to mince garlic all year round but even high price with quality will not prevent most blades from wearing thin over time.ii. Versatile excellent thought out daily functions of slicing and mincing, time saver;iii. Fine Mincer almost pureed or diced fine. Good for quick saute and pan fry; knife work for large chunky bits.- Ugly to be addressed.i. Slicer uses conventional metal to slice. Over time like any other grater / mandolin, will go blunt. A solution is to strip skin off before slicing to keep edge sharp for longer.Would be nice if presently detachable slicer have spares given and spares on sale. My guess its not worth profit / production cost.Overall, daily Maintenance and Use keeps this 2-in-1 design . Horses for courses. Moderate weight, moderate use. What is moderate use ? My receipes are French double strength and exotic quadruple strength needs for garlic.Should have bought a few more.

Wonderful garlic press
I bought this with the Jamie Oliver grater and I love his products. This grater is such a heavy duty product. I haven't done a whole lot of slicing with this but I use the press all the time. I don't know how I lived without a garlic press most of my life. I would buy this and the Jamie Oliver grater over and over and over again! I have told everybody I know about the products and how much I like them. I thought I would tell amazon also.

Love this product. Easy to use, less waste of garlic. Minces and slices beautifully.

Most useful
I have had quite a few garlic crushers, mostly useless for various reasons, so I was worried that this one might be an expensive mistake! Not so. It is sturdy, feels good in the hand - and although my hand is not very strong, I was relieved to find I can crush the garlic and slice it without difficulty. Thank you Jamie Oliver for a good item, and Amazon for amazingly quick delivery.

Terrible
This is my second garlic slicer/presser and this brand is just terrible. This slicer mashes, rather than makes nice slices (the blades are too blunt) and the slicer insert keeps coming out. Also, there is no way to clean the slicing pieces. Also, it's not well balanced, so that the head part is much heavier in the hand and it's hard to hold with one hand.It was a waste of $20.Get the AMCO one -- it's much much MUCH better (and a little cheaper!). http://www.amazon.com/Amco-Garlic-Press-Slicer-Cast/dp/B000I1UYKW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1293208714&sr=8-10

A pain to clean. Does just an ok job.
does the slicing and mince as needed.however cleaning the thing is really a chore, as the parts don't come out and little pieces get stuck within.Further, this press doesnt peel and slice/mince in one shot as per Jamie's video. In fact the the peels also get sliced along side the garlic which is a complete waste of the garlic piece.I have to peel all the garlic by hand before using this. I use it as a standard press now, which is ok, but not very exciting.

Happy bunny!
Needed a new garlic press, didn't know what to go for then spotted this and wondered if it would meet my needs because some of the reviews were a bit negative. Well.... the price was right so I went ahead and ordered one and I'm very glad that I did!The head is in 2 sections, one for pressing and the other for slicing - does what it says on the tin. Found the press to be really good, garlic crushed more than enough to release the oils and cook evenly. Most of the left over bits and skin come out easily and although its not quite as easy to clean as my old press it isn't too difficult or time consuming. I haven't used the slicer as much but no real problems with the blade system and happy enough with the slivers I've scattered into some of my dishes.Happy with my purchase, looking to a long and tasty relationship with my slice 'n' press!
