Yes this is the original Bare Minerals. I laugh when I read the questionable comments as the packing has changed slightly from year to year and with different products; matte, original, shimmer, etc.I have been using Bare Minerals for many years and have several containers here (coloring changes slightly from winter to summer as I soak up sun quickly and my skin tone darkens). This keeps my complexion clear, covers imperfections, gives a beautiful light all over, all day coverage. Nothings else compares.So why is the price so much better here....well they don't have all the overhead folks, no store, no sales people...like that. Simple good business to bring you a great product at a lower price. Celebrate that.If you are not sure of your color choice you can head to a Bare Escentials store, Boston Store (used to carry it) or call around to some of the major department stores. Stop in and have a cosmetician assist you with application, then wear it home and check it out in natural light. Ask a friend, family member, co-worker, someone that looks at you on a regular basis to give you some feedback on the shade. The first time, the salesgirl tried to sell me a shade too light (ghostly). She light that effect, taking things lighter rather than matching my true shade. My husband was completely honest helping me get the right shade. When I went back I made certain to get a different person. She was a little shocked and made certain I was 'matched' correctly.I'm a happy Bare Minerals user now. I do have to change one shade in winter (or mix it down a bit) depending on how much I'm out in summer. I have a fairly dark complexion in summer that fades in winter. Bare Minerals keeps up with that. Most people do not have much change throughout the year. This make up blend SO well you probably won't have to change like I do.Love this make up. Wear nothing with it, or very little extra if going out. Sweet.

I am in love with this product! I have always hated using foundation, but powders never had the coverage I needed. The first time I tried Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals, it looked terrible. But after a little practice, it is by far, the best foundation I have ever used. I have very blotchy skin, with dark red patches and acne scars. This product gives me the flawless skin nature didn't!I have tried several of the competitor's products that claim to be mineral foundation, but none of them worked as well as the Bare Escentuals. In fact, none of them worked at all for me!Be sure to follow the Swirl, Tap, Buff instructions, or it will not work right! I have also learned that using lotions of any kind before this product, will cause clumping in that area. I use Mineral Veil before the foundation when I have recently used lotion, or need extra coverage.EDITED 6 months later - December 30, 2009I have since stopped using this product, but still stand behind this review. I have battled cystic acne and acne vulgaris for 20 years or more (NOT caused, or even aggravated by this product). I have some signifigant scarring as a result of this. As my skin has aged, the scarring has become more noticeable. The Bare Minerals powder worked great to cover the redness of these scars. But since the surface of my face is no longer perfectly smooth due to these scars, the powder actually makes them MORE noticeable. I was very sad to give this product up, and I still think longingly of it while slathering on my goopy foundation.So basically, Bare Minerals is wonderful, and I still highly recommend it. But if you have pits from severe acne scarring, it may not be the product for you.

I have used this a few times now, and I don't think it's the real thing. There's almost no coverage and it smells like baby powder, which is not normal for your product. I'll just buy the real thing from now on.

This was too dark for me. It looked like a fake sun tan.

You can't go wrong with Bare Minerals. Great color and coverage.

I've been using bareMinerals for almost a decade now. I was super curious once I saw the info-mercials. Then, my friend got it and raved about how light is was to wear and easy to apply. I saved and saved so I could get the starter kit. I'm not rich people. Back then the starter kit was close to $100. It came with a DVD that walks you through step by step on how to apply each powder. I watched and immediately tried it. Haven't gone back to any other make up since then. It's so light that I don't feel guilty if I fall asleep with my makeup on. I would say that if you put it on the in the morning and are going to do something in the evening another application is probably best. I would also suggest to wash your brushes every month or else the oils in your skin will clump up the brushes and can cause blemishes.. or they did with me at least. I was an avid wearer of MAC makeup until I ran into a friend at a baby shower and could not stop complementing her FLAWLESS face! She told me she had been using Bare Minerals, so I had to give it a try. I do think I prefer the original formula over the matte. But I love this product. I use the primer before and make sure it is dried completely, then I use my MAC concealer to cover any blemishes and dark circles under my eyes. Then I put on about 4-5 layers of Bare Minerals foundation. The compact lasts forever because you need to use so little of the product to get good coverage. I apply it with a big round powder brush and make sure to get my neck, too. I set it with the Mineral Veil, sweep on some blush, and go! It's so easy to use and covers so nicely. I never thought I would move away from liquid foundation, but I really love this mineral powder. Great for everyday wear!

Colour a bit too dark for me. Not sure it gave the effect I was expecting. Need to try it in summer !
