QuickBooks for Churches & Other Religious Organizations (Accountant Beside You)

I've been using QB for about 15 years for several small non-profits with relatively uncomplicated accounting needs. Picked up an account for a very small church about a year ago and have figured out some work-arounds for a few (new to me) needs. Just picked up an account for a non-profit that has needs that I have not had to deal with before, so purchased this book. It says it is for religious organizations, but it has the information that I need for the needs of this new (to me) nonprofit -- the former accountant was using an excel worksheet and the reason they hired me was because the organization is branching out and they figured out that excel would not work anymore. Anyway, this book tells me EXACTLY what I need to know for this new account, and also tells me how I should have been doing stuff for the church that I already had. Good information, well laid out, clear explanations. Should have been titled for non-profits as well as religious organizations!

Quickbooks was very difficult to learn, but I ordered this book which really helped. Several areas require some good accounting knowledge, eve. With this book. I have a background in non-profit accounting, or I would have given up. I now think it is going to do most of what I need, but I'm still learning. The book was a life saver.

Even though I had no experience with QB except to review reports generated from my former church's bookkeeper (who had tons of experience), I have been able to get our 2016 QB set up for my new church and run reports that the board is pleased with (which took a few months of tweaking, suggestions, etc.). This book is easy to understand and answers many of my questions.

Decent resource for subject info that's seems scarce on the internet.But there are quite a few grammatical errors, the pages don't show chapter titles at the top which I find very inconvenient, low quality graphics and an overall cheap, low budget feel to the book.Perhaps the author and publisher could improve these issues with subsequent editions.Not very reader-friendly, but if you can overlook the above, the book does provide some helpful info for those new to church bookkeeping.Could also be clearer with regard to use of classes, jobs, and chart of accounts for tracking church ministries, funds, grants, and the like.

I took over for our previous Treasurer and things were just a mess and I didn't quite know what to do in QuickBooks.Lisa's book has been a huge help. I decided to just start a new company in QuickBooks and have a fresh start. Her book took me thru the set up and her suggestions for the chart of accounts were excellent. I couldn't have done it without this book! If you're on the fence about getting it, trust me, this book is worth every penny. I'm so thankful that this book is out there. There was no other book that was specifically for churches using QuickBooks.

Medium difficulty in understanding use of program concerning classes and chart of accounts. General knowledge of accounting needed. Not for "Dummies"

I like this book. I loaned my first copy to someone and didn't get it back. I needed a new one for the reference again. This gives the basics of QuickBooks with the emphasis on use by churches. We're still working out the best organization for our church.

This is a great book. VERY helpful. I bought it on Kindle first, but the examples are really too small on the Kindle Paperwhite to be of help. Bought the printed version and it is just fine. If you are just starting out with both Quickbooks and accounting/bookkeeping for your religious organization, this is the book you will need.
