Ongoing review for anyone who needs it...
Hi All,I don`t normally write reviews, but then I don`t normally have wads of hair falling out either! It has been really upsetting and so I am writing this review in the hopes that it will help someone else, as the reviews on here have helped me.A little background: my hair started falling out (shedding all over as opposed to "clumps") just over a year ago. I don`t know if it is just a coincidence, but it started a month after I started on the pill. I have had good days and bad days, but I got so obsessive with it I was even counting hairs whenever I washed my hair! On a "good" day I would lose about 20-40, on a bad day it could be up over 150! It averages around 50 to 60 if I wash my hair every two days. I also manage to always pull out at least one hair whenever I run my hand through my hair. One year on I have finally stopped the pill (and mine according to the internet is one of the better ones for not causing hair loss!) and I have been looking for something to try and repair the damage. I would estimate I have lost about 30% of hair volume in the last year. I have had blood tests done that came back as normal. Stress may be a part of it as the lst year has been pretty tough. But as long as I am not ill, I don`t really care what the cause is, I just want it to STOP! I noticed the other day when I looked in an outside mirror that I can see my scalp through my hair at the front. I was horrified, and that is what spurred me to get Toji, after reading these other reviews.I have bought the 3 month supply rather than the one bottle here, because I know you need to take it over time, but I will post the review here as I think this is where most people look, based on other reviews.so I ordered the product last Friday (the 21st). Amazon said the delivery can come anytime from the 25th to July 5th or something like that (with free but slow-mo delivery). Well, the product arrived yesterday! (26th!) so I was really pleased. It came beautifully packaged (see the 3 bottle product offer pic) and with a nice letter from the company thanking me for being a customer, advising me to take it for a minimum of 6 months, and telling me not to hesitate to get in touch with them if there are any problems. So this 5 star is just for customer service so far. Other people have said above, that they are impressed with the company, and I see what they mean! I started taking the first bottle yesterday evening, so I will finish the first one and then update this review with how things are going. Hope it helps!Update on basic info: have just discovered with hair loss that even though ferritin levels may appear normal on a blood test, many trichologists say anything under 100 can cause you to lose hair, so work with your doctor to boost ferritin levels even if they are within normal range if they fall below about 80. Also: the yeast candida albicans can eat up any etra ferritin gais you manage to get so it may be worth looking into an anti-candida treatment program and diet if you think that may also be a problem for you. I am not a doctor and this is based on my own research only, so please consult a medical professional but thougt the inf might help someone :) !1st July 2013Well, I am one week into the program so far. I hope this kicks in sooner rather than later because my hair has been worse than ever this week! I think it must be to do with coming off the pill a few weeks ago but, my God! the amount of hair falling out is REALLY scary right now - at least 60 every time I wash and style my hair (every 2 days), and then every time I run my fingers through my hair I am getting at least 1, sometimes as many as 4-6. I just keep focusing on 6 months from now and hoping things will improve. Christmas! That`s what I`m waiting for!The toji tablets have taken a bit of getting used to. They smell pretty weird, and they are a funny muddy brown color - sort of like dry cat food!!! They are quite large - about the size of a centrum tablet, and they don`t taste good! I kind of see this as a GOOD thing though - they are clearly in their natural state, not artificially colored or flavored to look or taste good and for me that is a good thing. If 4 of these are going into me every day for the next 6 months minimum I would rather have something natural than something chemically enhanced. You get used to the flavor anyway - just swallow quickly! Will update on progress at the end of the first bottle.....26th July 2013Just finished the first bottle. To be honest - no change at all so far. My hair is falling out just as much as when I first started the tablets. If anything, it`s worse! BUT - this is quite normal apparently after coming off the pill and it should stablilize within 3 months, so will keep persevering and see what happens. My hair (what is left of it!) DOES seem a bit thicker - I think it is too early for this product to have that effect so it could be the Bosley hair volumizer I am also using with it. Will report back again at the 3 month mark and see if there has been any progress then.30th August 2013Just finished my second bottle this morning. Hair loss has not stopped at all. In fact it has got about 50% worse! However - I have recently added minoxidil to my treatment plan and I have read that minoxidil can cause an initial shed so this might be what is causing it. BUT - I have noticed that when I examine the individual hairs that are falling, they seem thicker than before. Could this be Toji`s effect? I am not experiencing the side effects that other people have mentioned to any debilitating degree so I will continue for a full 6 months if I can and see what the end result is. Just another note on fabulous customer service - I got MY free bottle in the post a week or so ago. I am REALLY hoping this stuff works for me because I WANT to say nice things about this product!11th October 2013Just finsihed bottle no.3! Well, the good news is that my hair loss has completely stopped! Turns out I have a vitamin D deficiency - confirmed by blood tests! One week into a supplement regime and the hair loss has virtually been completly eliminated!I wish I could say it was due to this product, but to be completely honest I don`t think it is, and this product has NOT helped with hair loss in MY case. However - given the amount of hair that has fallen out, my hair should be looking MUCH thinner than it is and my friend even commented the other day on how thick my hair is looking! I think this is down to the Toji. I am now looking forward to all the new hair growing back in and seeing hw thick it is with this product. Will continue with bottes 4 5 and 6 as recommended and then post back again to let everyone know the final results. Hope this is helping! My advice to anyone with hair loss - get blood tests done, and even if your ferritin and vit D is "normal but low" try a supplement - mine wasn`t unusually low, but still obviously too low for me. Good luck!1st January 2014Happy new year all! So I have just finished my 6 month course. The verdict:Given the amount of hair I have lost from shedding it should be looking much thinner than it is. I definitely credit Toji with that. My hair seems to be in really good condition as well. My NYE party photos from last night look great! My hair is lovely! In my case this did NOT stop the shedding. The reason for my shedding was low levels of vit D. It may be for some others that the cause of their shedding is something that can be gained from this supplement but I cannot say this supplement solved my hair loss problem at all. However - it has definitely thickened my hair up, made it better conditioned, and my hair is not quite possibly the longest it has ever been! I have the kind of hair that reaches a certain length and that is as far as it goes, but this time it seems to be just getting longer and longer! It is pricey, and you have to stick with it for the full 6 months. That is the downside. The plus side - in my case it really seems to be working. I haven`t had any of the side effects other people have noted such as stomach pains etc. I have a pretty strong stomach anyway, maybe that`s why. Perhaps people with generally sensitive somtachs should proceed with caution with this product. I am very interested to know if there is a "maintenance level" dose. I noticed someone else had asked that question but the Toji people hadn`t yet replied. If anyone from Toji is reading this, can you answer that question? In conclusion - I will be buying more, but I am not sure how long I can sustain $30+ a month on a supplement. It`s a bit pricey for me. Shame, because it seems to be doing the job. Toji - if you need a poster girl, in return for a years free supply, please let me know :) ! Good luck to everyone else on their hair recovery journeys.

definitely an important part of the hair maintenance routine
UPDATE: August 2017 (originally reviewed March 2017)Originally I said that I didn't think these vitamins would work by themselves but only in tandem with shampoos and serums, but I recently tried to downsize my entire hairloss ritual and discovered that using only these vitamins still gave me significant improvement in hair regrowth and prevention of hair loss. For a while I used them along with Bos Revive shampoo (sometimes alternating with Lipogaine 3), plus Pura D'Or serum, plus some anti-breakage shampoos and conditioners, and I noticed a huge improvement in my hair. But it just got to where I couldn't afford to keep buying all the products, so I slowly removed items and discovered the serum was the LEAST necessary, while these Toji vitamins were the MOST necessary. Currently I'm using the vitamins and OGX caffeine anti-breakage shampoo plus OGX keratin conditioner and have had good results. That's the short story, now here's the long one: I'm female in my early 40s and started having hair loss early in 2016. It may have started back in June 2015, actually, when I damaged my hair by trying to lighten it too much. A lot of hair broke off on my left temple "triangle" area, so I started using OGX keratin oil shampoo and OGX biotin conditioner, plus Pantene Overnight Miracle, which helped. A few months later in October 2015 I got sick and ended up having surgery. Three months after that, in January 2016, I started seeing little clumps of hair on the carpet. I also saw them in loads of my laundry when I was folding them. I was in denial that this was hair loss until I saw so much hair coming out as I showered that the water wouldn't drain. At first I thought this was temporary from the surgery, but I also started having symptoms of perimenopause at the same time, so I honestly don't know why my hair was falling out. Was it surgery or stress or perimenopause? No idea. But I was told by my doctor that if it was surgery, I'd see hair growing back by June 2016 at the latest, and I really didn't, so I think this is genetic/hormonal hair loss from perimenopause.I was taking zinc (per advice from the blog Beauty Mouth) and added some biotin as well, then researched more vitamins to take, and decided on trying Toji because it had all the vitamins I wanted to try all at once, so it just seemed more convenient. There were other vitamins and supplements in the Toji, too, so it was a good deal, and actually cheaper in the long run than buying vitamins individually.Within 3 weeks of taking these, I saw hair growth in the temples where I had a lot of hair loss. Because I started these two months after the Bos Revive shampoo, I could differentiate between the growth I'd had with each product, and this definitely helped me be able to restore some hair. Between the Bos Revive and the Toji, by early August 2016 I wasn't having much hair loss at all, and even showing a little restoration in the temple areas. The Pura D'Or really put me over the top and I'm now seeing almost as much hair as I had before the hair dye fiasco way back in June 2015.My only problem is that I can't really handle taking multivitamins very well. I've never been able to, but I thought now that I had my acid reflux under control I could handle large multivitamins, but they still sometimes give me a little stomach upset. You HAVE to take them with a good amount of food. Personally, I've gotten past this by taking only one dose of two Toji vitamins a day, plus an individual zinc and biotin later that day -- so if me taking technically just half of the Toji dosage works, I imagine everyone else who can take the full 4 pills (2 each twice daily) will have significant benefit. If you've already tried one or two things and aren't quite getting the results you want, add Toji vitamins to your routine. Give it a month and I think you'll definitely notice a difference.
