Not great for lap use.
Great when in a desk or table. Not so easy to use in my lap. Case I had for my old iPad opened in a way that counterbalanced the keyboard so it was easier to use in my lap. Overall satisfied with it.

Mediocre device not worth buying and broke on first use
The accesory is not worth the $80 as the hinge doesn't work properly leaving a wide gap when the device closed flat. This causes damage to the hinge and keyboards break. The battery life is decent but I will likely buy a Brydge keyboard that is made of metal instead of this pile of junk.
