The Art of Reasoning: An Introduction to Logic and Critical Thinking

Before this work by David Kelly I was not so much aware of what it meant thinking critically. The content is superb, clear, informative, and absorbing. Trust me; this is must for every want-to-be serious thinking man. My aim in buying this book was to get some more experience and knowledge on analyzing and distilling arguments we are so much confronted in ever day life like in newspapers, discussions on TV, or talk with people who seem to pretend him or her to be very clever that they believe they could trick everyone into thinking what they do believe is right or wrong.The most useful chapter was therefore the Fallacies chapter which discusses extensively the most relevant fallacies we make when engaged in reasoning in one kind or another. I repeat it; to acquire some form of training in critically thinking you may consider to take the suggestions at heart and work patiently through he exercises at the end of each section and chapter.

This book came in pretty decent condition! I could tell it was used but nothing was ripped or too worn. It worked great for my philosophy class. I recommend!

Adequate for teaching the subject, but the jargon can use a little bit of work. Not all exercises have clear instructions and some of the terms are not well defined.Pretty good for the most part, though.

Cheaper by $35 from my college bookstore is worth 5 stars from me. Also Prime shipping can't be beat. I had 3rd edition from a friend but my professor said big differences from 3rd to 4th so I bit the bullet to purchase.

The book is read-only which is great if you are not in an online interactive course. I've lost a letter grade because of this inability.

Did great in this class and this book wasn't bad, just hate that they make a new edition every year so u can't resell your book after the course

Incomplete but what is covered is well covered. I like it and it's a good reference.

Great book. I used it for a university course but would recommend to those just interested in learning more about the topic too.

I ordered a 'new' textbook, but it came with dirt... not new at all. Should i be glad at least there's not any page lost?
