A Classic Made Even Better By New Additions
Without any question Thomas G. West's "In the Mind's Eye" is one of the most important and insightful books ever written on the critical and critically neglected question: What is dyslexia (and related learning challenges) really all about? West provides critical evidence that the neurological variations that produce the reading, writing, spelling, arithmetical, and other challenges associated with dyslexia, are neither the only nor in a crucial sense the core features of dyslexia, but are in a way incidental accompaniments of a pattern of brain organization that can also create very real advantageous. West documents much of the growing body of work that supports this hypothesis, and he does so in a beautifully lucid and engaging fashion. This book, which has proven an invaluable source of enlightenment and encouragement for countless dyslexic individuals and those who work and care for them, is enhanced in this newly revised edition by an extended epilogue that touches on changes that have occurred in the nearly two decades since this now classic book first appeared. It's already wonderful resources and bibliography sections have also been updated. No one interested in dyslexia and related learning patterns should consider their education on this subject complete until they have read--and reread--this wonderful book.

Dyslexics have the future!
One of the best books for and on dyslexics! Great examples and good insights in how dyslexics process information. Every dyslexic should read this and review his own perception of dyslexia as a disorder. It is a big problem in our language oriented society, but also an opportunity to be an out-of-the-box-thinker and have your unique contribution to our fast changing society. Dyslexics have the future and this book tells why.

an excellent source for dyslexics and their loved ones
As someone who has an uncle with dyslexia and at times believes they themselves are dyslexic, this book showed me what is behind this learning difficulty and why things appear differently for some than for others. It also is quite a confidence booster to read about the examples of important people the author gives, as well as more recent advances in the understanding learning difficulties. I appreciated the explanation of thinking visually which can be done by anyone. This book definitely got me motivated to appreciate how dealing with learning difficulties allows people to see things in new ways.

Really interesting
OK so I have to read this for my research, but you know what, it's really interesting. I have to take bite sized chunks and re-read the occassional bit and I'm only half way through but generally it's quite easy to swallow. It's also well organised with referenced notes at the back.
