Poorly made travel tripod Orange Monkie 50, bad quality control, buy better
after watchong a youtube review by a person i thought was knowledgable i purchased this tripod. it costing $60 i knew was middle of the road mfg. however, i didnt expect 2 hex nuts on ea of 3 legs with grinding locknut washers eating up the metal where you attempt to tighten an upper leg joint or loosen because you will not find all legs of same smooth resistance. given a hex wrench is supplied, its expected this simple maintenance is performed as needed. but thats where itll get tricky. as you try over n over to make one leg match other two, youl finally take upper leg joint apart. youll find 2 shorter bolts rather than one long one..why oh why! 2 lock? washers, 2 brass hole inserts and one spring for the clicker that adjs the position of leg. as you get into that mess, youll note how badly its anodized in black and its wearing off the base metal underside of legs. thats going to frost your cake after an hour of adj and readj'g the wonky tripod legs upper joint. this couldve been designed much better with a single bolt and one sided locking mech on oppo hole. given these issues, i cant recommend the Orange Monkie 50 tripod.. im returning mine as well and saving for a better quality, better made, tripod with same size and features maybe the sm travel Monfrotto.

Not the same product that’s pictured
I’ve been trying to invest more into my professional camera gear recently. I have just about everything I need, but when I saw this small tripod I thought, “That is something I don't have.” When the product arrived, I took a close look at it and noticed that it wasn't the same product that was shown on the product page. It is still a tabletop tripod and it does seem to be sturdy, but there are several differences in the product that arrived and what was shown when I ordered it. The box does have “Tripod50” stamped on it which matches the model noted on the product page, but it is certainly not the same product. Here is a list of the differences.1. The locks on the legs are not red - they are black.2. The ball head isn't silver, it’s black.3. The camera mount does not have a level built into it - there is one in the tightening knob of the mount.4. The mounting plate isn’t the same - the screw is a different design and the top has nonskid grip material on it.5. The smartphone mount is just a simple spring-loaded extension mount and not tightened by a screw as shown.Like I said the product I got seems to still be a sturdy tripod, but it’s not exactly what was shown. If the model has been updated or changed completely, the product page should be updated.

One of the highest quality, full featured and really small, mini-tripods I’ve handled…
The media could not be loaded. The Orange Monkie Tripod-50 is my current winner in the category of ‘highest quality, full featured mini-tripods. Coming complete with a full featured ball mount with Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release plate, it oozed quality in each of its very useful features. I looked at the price point of $50, and could not find any other unit that was selling for less with all the features and quality in the OM tripod. While I did find another brand selling the same design, their offering was a couple dollars more.Doing a side-by-side type review, I took advantage of another mini-tripod I’d received. Fortunately, it was also of high quality, but was half the weight and much smaller than the OM tripod. But that was a good think as it demonstrated that there’s room for both high quality in a super compact as well as the Tripod-50’s category of full-featured and full sized compact mini….. if that’s possible. (?) In my video summary, I had to confess that I found both the Orange Monkey and its compact-mini rival to both be worthwhile studio tools. The Orange Monkie Tripod-50 and it’s little sibling both got 5-stars from me.

It's true, not the same head but...
...I didn't buy it for the head or the fancy little red accent tabs that are actually black, I bought it for the low profile/form factor of the legs and I'm glad I did. It's a quality, "heavy duty", little tripod, and fills the gap for me when doing small tabletop shoots or presentations as well as when I need to be as low as possible to the ground when shooting.Fit and Finish:Fit and finish are both really nice. The paint/finish is really well done. There's no slop in the legs, everything moves smoothly with some resistance. I'll admit the telescoping legs are a little finicky and kind of annoying to extend but it's a minor complaint for an aspect of the tripod I rarely use.Overall, I like it a lot. I only docked it one star for the fact that it really doesn't match the photos but functionally, it's a great little tripod.

Be warned: What you get is not what are in the pictures
Not sure what happened here but what I got was not what are in the pictures. The ball head on the tripod is a completely different head. The top of the head has no measurement marks or bubble level. Instead you have what appears to be a cheaper made one with a bubble level in the release plate knob which is virtually useless. The center column twist lock is made of rubber instead of alloy as shown in the pictures. The phone mount that comes with it is different as well. Instead of having a screw down phone mount that is in the pictures you get a simple spring tension phone mount.I thought maybe a different tripod was mistakenly sent to me however I saw another reviewer have the exact same problem.

Model not as shown
The tripod is not the same as the images. The levelling bubble is not able to be used with DSLR camera as it is in a different place than shown in images. Buttons are black and not red as shown. Contacted supplier and they did not offer a replacement for the correct model. Very dissappointed
