Artistic Products 41100 Logo Padt Recycled Desktop Organizer w/Clear Overlay, 19 x 24, Black

I initially had purchased Artistic 19 x 24 desktop organizer at Office Depot years ago. When this wore out, I found OD no longer carried it. I turned to Amazon in hopes of getting the same thing. What arrived was quite similar, but not the same. The black rubber backing had been replaced with some phenolic backing that would not stick to the clear topper. The result from the clear topper moving forward from the base was that a coaster with a drink dislodged and spilled all over my desk, swelling the pressed wood. I was sent a replacement by Amazon, this time the plastic topper was STITCHED, not GLUED, and has remained in place. Much superior. While Amazon advised that I would be refunded $6.40 for shipping, the return at the post office for the cheapest rate was in excess of eleven dollars. Seems like Amazon should have covered that? Otherwise, replacement works well.

I have had the previous version of this desk pad for at least 10 years but recently it had begun showing its age and so I wanted to replace it. I ordered what I thought to be the identical product based on the image, the logo and the brand. Boy, o boy - have times changed!What I received today has absolutely nothing in common with the original desk pad. The new pad's black surface is made out of a thin and rather smooth plastic, whereas the original had been made from a thick rubbery material that had good grip on both sides, making it ideal to place photographs etc. underneath the overlay. The same goes for the overlay itself which is much thinner and substantially more lightweight than the older model.But the absolute worst is how the overlay had already separated at the top edge from most of the pad when I received it. To separate it completely took no more effort than it takes to remove a PostIt note from a sheet of paper, I could not believe it. In contrast, my 10-year old pad still has the overlay securely(!) attached to the pad - I tried to separate them just for heck of it but they stayed firmly connected.My advice: Do not buy this, even if you liked the original like I did. This is not the same good product anymore. I would not spend $5 on this, let alone over $20 as I paid at the time of purchase.

Some of the other reviews complained about workmanship. This is the first one that I own so I have nothing to compare but I really like this unit. I was looking for something of this size that I could store my notes safely and visibly. This so far has worked very well.

my computer desk is made of pressed board, so i can't stain, paint, or finish it. but it fits so perfectly into my travel trailer and serves multiple purposes, i just couldn't get rid of it. this was the problem solver. i shaved a bit off front end, it fits perfect now and ez to keep clean as well and keeps my notes in place so i can glance at what i have to do till they are done and i can remove them.

We have used these in our office for many years. We replace them every year or two. In the past the top edges were glued together and that was always a problem. Eventually they would separate and could never be adequately re-glued. The new ones have a really heavy stitching holding the two layers together and it works! I would recommend this to a friend - and I just did!

I used to use one of these desk mats at an old job 10 years ago and it held up great. The adhesive used to hold together the top clear sheet and the bottom mat stopped working within a week of receipt of this item. So now the top sheet is always misaligned with the mat. This is really annoying and does not serve the purpose of protecting the papers and photos that you have put under the sheet.

This product that was sold by Amazon has stitching at the top and thus prevents the top from separating from the bottom. other sellers of the same product have only tape keeping the two together. the inferior product fails after a few days of use and separates.
