MANHUNT

Clune raises the level of any production he's in. In terms of the story, it's all right. A bit tedious at times, which I guess despite what shows like CSI and Law & Order would lead you to believe, is always the essence of detective work. I think this series has more of an impact in England where evidently the RL murders, in a country where once upon a time crime was less frequent than in "barbarous" countries like the USA, were a huge story.One critic here considers that showing the Clune character's personal life detracted from the production but I disagree. I was amazed that he bailed out on a flight with his wife to an overseas wedding of her brother literally at the boarding ramp because of "a break in the case" which turns out not really to be a break, and yet while the wife is very upset, she doesn't divorce him or even really stay mad after she cools off. She knows her husband. But I like the reality of that... the tendency in Hollywood script-writing would be for him to come home and find his bags all packed on the front stoop. It seems like American detectives always wind up divorced due to their work addictions and obsessions.A series worth watching, for sure, altho since I probably won't watch it again, I wish I had watched it on Acorn rather than buying the DVDs. Oh well, I can put the box next to my Doc Martin collection.Final note: 3 episodes is just right. There are those in TV production would have made this into a 10-part series and boy that would have overkill so gross as to justify an indictment of some sort!

Solid story, great acting, satisfying procedural, and another example that Martin Clunes is an actor who can play different roles well. Highly recommend this first season and hope there is a second. A solid five star rating.

If you are a fan, Martin Clunes is all you really need to know. He was terrific, as always. As it happens, however, Mr. Clunes was not the only good performer on the movie. Everyone was good, but Mr. Clunes performance excelled as always. Terrific movie if true murder stories are your cup of tea.

We are huge fans of Doc Martin. We love Martin Clunes. This DVD is quite the change from Doc Martin. We were amazed to see Manhunt Season 1 show a completely different Clunes. What a marvelous actor this man is. If you have never seen Doc Martin, this is a good time to buy. If you buy Manhunt Season 1, you probably won't be sorry.

Interesting crime story without excessive blood and gore. Well developed script and great acting. I hope they continue this series. It was like watching developing news unfold on TV, every day they got closer and closer to the criminal.

Excellent ! My husband and I enjoyed both the story line and acting immensely. Worth the purchase.

I love seeing Clunes act. He's one in a million. Sure hope more episodes to follow!

Martin Clunes proves himself a versatile actor in this Police drama based on an actual case. Great direction, superb supporting cast and cinematography. If you like the more cerebral police dramas this fills the niche.
