There is nothing not to like about this little cube of a clock from Marathon. I'm very near-sighted and have gone years without knowing what time it is in the night. Now with this clock, I can put it within reach without the light keeping me awake. It has a soft, amber light that does not light up the area around it. Not sure how they achieved this. The light, when set on AUTO will turn off in the daytime then come back on again when it gets dark enough. It keeps perfect time, has a pleasant alarm (red button on top, so don't accidentally pop it on -- but it is easy to turn off in the morning when you want it) and it will be perfect for travel because it's so tiny. Plus, IT'S SILENT! It's absolutely inaudible, which is so awesome for me because ticking (and light) keep me awake. This is a clock that I'll have as long as it keeps going, and then I'll buy another one! Truly well-made, well thought-out and a keeper.

I recommend it, highly. Bought this specifically for travel, it fit the bill. I wear glasses, and come from a time when analog clocks were common. For me, this is fast & easy to read. It's now on my nightstand, more or less permanently.Initially it worked as expected: perfect size, easy to see analog face, nearly silent operation. After a couple of weeks, it developed the erratic operation others reported. I inspected it closely and found the adjustment crown (shaft) was still partially in alarm adjust position. When pulled out in mid-position (free running, no time/alarm adjust), it worked perfectly. It's easily bumped back into adjust mode, especially coming out of a tightly packed suitcase. There's very little distance of movement, I can't tell what position it's in by appearance. I need to give the crown shaft a twist while looking at the face, and see if anything moves. You can't tell what mode it's in by expecting the hands to freeze like older analog clocks. The hands often keep moving while you're adjusting it.Here's a quick test-grab the crown (red adjust shaft) on the back and spin it. If the alarm or the clock hands follow your turns, return the adjust shaft to mid position. Re-check. If the hands & alarm hand don't respond, it should run. If it's still giving you trouble, maybe it's time to consider contacting Amazon.Hope this helps you make an informed decision.Update: six months downrange. It stopped, again. After a few minutes of examination, it was obvious why - the batteries needed changing. Replaced batteries, operation restored. It seems this clock is a little on the hungry side, battery-wise. But it's forgivable since I have the backlight feature switched on 24/7/365. So, I added a few extra AA batteries to the operation budget, all's well here. Tip: if it's been a while since you've changed batteries, and you're taking a trip...add a pair of AA batteries to your suitcase.I still recommend it.October 1, 2020 update:I began to suspect that it uses batteries a little more frequently than similar battery powered analog clocks. So, I kept a journal documenting battery replacement dates. I was surprised to discover that this clock needs batteries replaced every three months, almost to the day. In my case, I have the dial auto night activated, but I am not using the audible alarm. With prompt battery replacement, this clock is giving me flawless performance.So, plan on keeping extra batteries handy, especially if you travel.

This is so fun. I feel very 1985 having an analog clock next to my bed, but it’s great. Feels well made with precise time keeping. Alarm is great. I love the amber night light setting. And it looks sort of nautical. Great purchase.

Leaps and bounds better quality make than any of the $10-$15 clocks out there. Sturdy and easy to use. Backlight is spectacular and much easier to read than the small bulb in most clocks in the same style range. Drawbacks are it being a bit small, lack of ascending alarm, and that the alarm cuts out if it runs for over two minutes (which could be a good and bad thing). Alarm is definitely loud.Highly recommend if you're looking for a relatively affordable mini alarm clock. I will next be buying the size up as I think I prefer a bit larger clock face.

If you are looking for an alarm clock that does not tick or have a lighted dial that keeps you awake and that is easy to operate, this may the one that you have been looking for. It has a lighted dial that you turn on for a set interval by pushing on the top bar or have it set to automatically illuminate when the room darkens. The alarm setting reminds me of the old alarm clocks that have the ringers on top. Turn the dial at the back and rotate it to the time you want. Again, simple. The only drawback being that the alarm will sound at the next 12 hour interval so you will need to remember to turn it on before you go to sleep. Not a big deal since it is obvious by the red bar at the top being pushed in and worth the trade off for simplicity. The light, should you choose to use it is a soft amber which looks good against the black background that I chose but would look even better against the white dial. This alarm is so good that I order two more. One for me with the white dial and an all white one as a gift.

I have requested a replacement because I can not possibly believe that my problem is a common one with this clock. I previously tried another make, unable to read anything in the dark, a pathetic light came on in the bottom right hand corner. So I went for this model. It is beautifully made, the screen light is excellent in the dark. However I suddenly realized after the first 25 hours it had lost 5 minutes, the second test 8 minutes and then last night an incredible 16 minutes. I am requesting a return and hope that this replacement is free of time issues. Otherwise this is an excellent travel alarm clock.

This alarm clock is accurate. I measured 1.5 seconds fast in one week or +2.5 ppm which is very good. Clock is easy to read during the day with black hands and white face background. At night, pressing the top bar back lights the face nicely with a warm glow. Very quiet. Alarm is easy to turn on and off.

Good quality, quiet, good looking, weight about109 gram. The design is very thoughtful, there are little black plastics on the bottom form no sliding on the table.

Pleasantly surprised by the look and feel of the product; the pictures definitely don't do this clock justice.In person this clock is very nice to look at and although plastic, it feels very dense and well constructed like a premium product.The automatic light function works flawlessly and illuminates the dial amply without lighting the room.I tried a Seiko sweeper hand clock beforehand but found that I could still hear a loud rattling noise from across the room. With this clock, the rattle is completely inaudable from 5-10cm away, so is perfect for those with oversensitive hearing like me.

Habe ihn mit schwarzem Zifferblatt im Einsatz und finde den Wecker optisch und haptisch wirklich sehr gelungen.Die optionale und dezente Dauerbeleuchtung ist eine super Sache und die Zeit lässt sich trotz schwarzem Zifferblatt auch in der Dauerbeleuchtungsmethode bei Dämmerung und nachts ausreichend gut ablesen. Noch heller geht es mit Bedienung der Taste. Die rote Taste für das Aktivieren des Alarms ist auch ein prima feature.
