Great book. Details 30 classic movies, from the 20's to the 60's. It completely added another dimension to these classics. I loved the original designer sketches for the star's characters. Her description of fabrics & how the design & style came about. When you watch these movies again, you will pay more attention to details.

Spectacular book! It gives very detailed and fascinating information on the costuming used in some of the most iconic films from classic Hollywood. Films range from silent pictures to 1960s. My only complaint is that there were some typos (I liked the book so much though, that I'm willing to overlook that).

Great book!

This is the type of book that will never disappear. It has that nice new book smell (ok, all books have that). The font, pictures and layout are all beautiful. It is the perfect size for any coffee table, no matter the berth of the house/caravan the said coffee table is placed within. It has a really nice weight to it (trust me, you'll know what I mean when you hold it in your hands), and it combines the top two things that girls and boys love - fashion for girls, and movies for boys. Ideal for fashionable boys and super-cool girlies alike. An ebook couldn't do the hardback justice.

Fabulous photos and captivating writing. Leaves you wanting to view all the films depicted and very appreciative of the amazing talents that created these films.

This book is as classy as the clothes featured in it. An excellent journey detailing Hollywood's original raison d'etre. Style, originality and sartorial eloquence. Think of your favourite film, try imagining it being the same film if the actors in it were dressed differently. This book is about the originators, creators and designers of how the characters of classic Hollywood movies were dressed. Think of Classic Hollywood and you think of shop girls who dressed like a million dollars in clothes quite frankly they would not have been able to afford in reality. A modern day equivalence is 'Friends' especially the girls. They were a masseuse, a chef and a shop girl wearing stylish, expensive clothes for work and play. Someone designed their 'style' for them. This book tells you all you need to know about the original ' designers' of Holllywood.

If you are a fan of both fashion and films, this book is for you. Quite a mash up of the two. Be used for fashion study or going into costume design for inspiration. These selections in the book are well known from the films. Excellent choices if stars and the films they are in.

This is a great book to own. It is beautifully illustrated and great to dip in and out of. It is also very informative, the author is clearly very knowledgeable on her subject. I'd highly recommend this book, it would make a lovely gift or would be a useful student text book.

Another present for a beautiful fashion conscious granddaughter. Very good value for money. Looked so good I'll probably borrow it
