Stolen Innocence...
Stealing Candy By Allison Hobbs was definitely not what I've come to expect from Ms. Hobbs. Thoroughly pleased with the previous books I read by her such as Insatiable , Dangerously In Love , A Bona Fide Gold Digger , The Climax (v. 2) I knew that when cracking open one of her novels I'd find a story filled with erotica, kinkiness and every once in a while a slightly disturbed female character. Stealing Candy provided none of the aforementioned instead Ms. Hobbs weaved a tale about a pimp named Bullet and the three girls he victimized Gianna, Brielle and Portia.Bullet was a gorilla pimp who abducted all three girls and forced them into a life of prostitution utilizing pain and narcotics. The emotional hold he maintained over the girls was actually stronger than the physical hold especially on his first victim Gianna. Gianna suffered so much at the hands of Bullet that at some points she became his enforcer against the other two girls, in an effort to earn Bullet's love and perhaps lessen the abuse he doled out freely. Gianna's character was so well developed that I went from sympathizing with her on one page to detesting her just a couple of pages later. The Stockholm Syndrome is clearly evidenced in Gianna's behavior. With Stealing Candy Ms. Hobbs delivers a disturbing read about the ease of exploiting impressionable young girls. The events that she's writing about are taking place all over the country as proven by all the young girls reported missing each year. Kudos to Ms. Hobbs for not only exposing a dark truth but for also stepping outside of the box and penning a novel that showcases that her writing skills aren't just limited to one genre.

Allison's "Stealing Candy"
Allison's "Stealing Candy" is a real eye-opener! A detour from her normal work, it evoked emotions and memories that had been lurking beneath the surface of my seemingly normal life. Every woman has been an unsure, innocent, aspiring teenager at one time and this book wakes up thoughts that have been long-ago stuffed and buried in my past. This wasn't a book that I could easily sail through in a night or two; I had to put it down, digest what I read, and come back later. I recommend it as required reading for all young women! The diverse storylines of the characters' lives added depth and dimension to the sum of the whole story. Thank you Allison, for bringing this issue to the world of the erotica reader! ~v~

Heartwrenching
I absolutely could not put down Stealing Candy, the fact that this heartwrenching work of fiction is addressing an issue that is going on everyday made the story that much more poignant. Daily we read about lost and exploited children, this story addressed a situation where someone is trying to do something about this problem. The main character, Saleema is diligently looking for Portia (one of her charges). The story development and the carryover of this character from previous Allison Hobbs works was fantanstic. I now have to purchase The Climax to fill in the blanks of what happened to Saleema prior to this story and after "Insatiable". This was an all around good read and I've been recommending it to my reading buddies.

Stealing Candy
This was a great read. For me it started out slow, but started to pick up once the young lady's met Bullet, I couldn't put it down. It is shocking how a man such as Bullet had a hold on these young lady's, how he controlled there minds. I have to say some of the thing he subjected them to, I know this is fiction however and I do believe that this is really happening today. Our young people have it so hard growing up nowadays they don't have a chance to be children. This is one of Allison's better books that I really enjoyed and would recommend it to others.

Very eye opening
Sucked me right in and ended with a great lesson. I think this is a great way to become informed about the traumatic experiences of human trafficking.

EXCELLENT. 5 STARS
Ms. Hobbs has outdone herself this time. This book had me from 1st page to last. It was so true as to what really goes on in our current times. Young girls are being abducted and forced into the slave trade every day. Ms. Hobbs did a fantastic job in bringing this story to the forefront. Even though it was very graphic, I believe many young girls should read this book and have open discussions with family and peers. Again kudos to Ms. Hobbs, definitely 5 stars.

It was O>K>
This was totally different from her other books. It had a great message, which i think was important. I read a couple reviews before getting the book i read all great reviews someone said it was well written.I might have to disagree a little. The storyline was okay... I could not connect with the characters, the author never went deep enough with the main characters, Which were Gianni, Saleema , Bullet and Portia... Yet who really were these people? I'm not going to lie i skipped a lot of pages just to get to the end which was the last 10 pages are less. Not really feeling this book.

Very moving novel about three teenagers
Three characters that find themselves in vulnerable positions on the street falling into the wrong hands. Being exploited used and abused by a vile character. For money highlighting the dangers on the streets. The hideous crimes we don't see on the street. Because nobody cares about these young teenagers that go missing !!
