Favorite Gift for my 10-Year-Old Football-Loving Son
So my son has become an NFL nut. He just loves it. He's also a big fan of strategy & skill games. As his 10th birthday approached, I knew I had to get him a football board game. Problem was: I had no idea what game was the best. I decided to buy this game, along with a second board game (both through Amazon). Well, this one is the clear winner, not just for him but for me. It is outstanding (the other, not so much)! The construction & design, the strategy involved, the game play level, everything is top-notch. I'd recommend it not just for kids like my 10-year-old, but for adults who are football fans.

Good game for kids.
Purchased for 8 year old boys who love sports. Game is pretty fun, offense picks a play from a group of card, defense picks a defense based on formation, depending on how they match determines the outcome of the play. My kid loves to play but takes awhile to set up each time (kind of like a lot of games). Actually found on clearance at another store so returned to Amazon, but game is pretty fun for those who love football; includes all the teams (certain "special" plays are for certain teams).

Fun but has more potential.
Simple game to learn and play, a lot of fun, a bit hit with my football-loving son. It can be a little more fun, though, if there were "expansion" packs. For example, why not put out team-specific card decks that play to the teams' strengths and weaknesses? For example, in a Packers' card deck some of the "Pass Play" cards would still pick up minimum yardage on "Pass Defense" cards; or maybe a Colts card deck would have fewer "Run Defense" cards. Or maybe each team has three "specialty" cards it can use per half; like say the Broncos has an "Audible" card that lets you see the defense being played by the other team and then lets the offense pick a new play. Something like this. There are some decent possibilities with this game that could make it more complex and fun. Still, for what it is we really enjoy it.

Fast, Fun, Educational Football Board Game
I originally set out to purchase another football board game (I think through Toys R Us), but knew I would need one that my 11 year old could understand and that I could learn so I could teach him. This happened to come up on Amazon when I was online shopping for Christmas. I read the reviews and they were all positive! I bought it and we have played it so many times since Christmas Day. It has easy to read directions that anyone can understand. The process of the game is smart and makes it easy for anyone to play, even if you don't have football knowledge, but at the same time teaches you a little more if you already have some knowledge. It doesn't have to be played all the way through, but we like to. You can be done with it at 'half-time'. A whole game is supposed to run to 45 mins, we get so excited we are done in 30! A really fun game!

Great way to get your kids away from the video games
My son and I first read about this game in one of his issues of Sports Illustrated Kids. It looked like a fun game so I ordered it for the holidays. Since then my son and I have had many grueling games. It is great you get to pick your own team out of all of the NFL teams. You then take turns on offense and defense trying to beat the other player. It allows you to choose plays from cards that you are holding. If you pick a play and the opposing player picks the wrong defense you gain yards. If not they can stop you, force a fumble or intercept the ball. It is a great way for both parent and child to learn more about football and strategy. I don't see us ever getting bored. BTW we have already simulated the super bowl and it looks like the Broncos are going to win. UPDATE: I guess we were wrong about that.

Fun family game for young football fans!
We love this game! I have three boys (ages 6, 8, and 10) and we all enjoy playing this game. They are all big football fans and are familiar with the rules and plays from watching and playing. This board game is a fun way to enjoy football inside on rainy days and it's a great mix of skill and luck. I really do enjoy playing it with them and it's great for all three ages of my kids. We'll be enjoying this for years. We do often only play one half because it can get long otherwise, but that's just how we prefer it and sometimes we do play both halves. Definitely recommend for young football fans.

Great fun from the start!
Great game. Easy to learn. Fun to play. Just finished the first game with my 11 and 6 year old boys. We understood the game well enough off the bat that we didn't have to go back to the instructions or get confused on what to or why others were doing what they did. While some strategy helps, luck has quite a bit to do with the outcome which may or not be fun to some. It's football based enough that the boys we're 'playing football's but not so that is was overly complex. Strongly recommend if you have kids interested in football or just want a new family boardgame.

Makes you feel like a real NFL Offensive/Defensive Coordinator!
My 8-year old son really loves this game. We played it twice on Christmas Day. When you pick your five cards on offense and defense, there is definitely strategy involved, as there is in the real NFL. You have to guess what kind of play the offense/defense will run and you have to mix up your play calling for sure. For example, if you choose an Interception card on defense, and the offense picks a Run card, then you just wasted your Interception card. I also like the Play-Action cards on offense because even if the defense picks a Pass Defense card, you can still get some yards out of it. Oh, and the Timeout card is great because you get to trade in all your cards for new ones if you don't like them. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and I can even admit that after losing twice to my 8-year old!!!!
