Always great quality...
Melissa and Doug brand to me has always been of upmost quality toys for kids. I can always feel safe buying toys of this brand because I know it will be made with safe materials and nothing crazy in it like lead paint. To me it is worth a little extra money to make sure our kids aren’t investing or handling toxic materials when simply playing with children’s toys. I would rather buy fewer toys that are safe than have a lot of toys made with unsafe materials. Less is more. This product is no different from all others I have purchased of the Melissa and Doug brand in terms of quality. The quality is top notch and impressive to say the least. My youngest is less than 18 months and she doesn’t care for this toy yet, I think it will probably be in the next six months that she actually enjoys playing with the ties and buckles on this particular toy. Right now she just enjoys throwing the toy and hitting it on the floor.

For young ones, this is an ideal introduction to working zippers and buttons. So soft!
One of my nephew's first toys and this is still his good friend. He loves the button and zipper and most especially the clasp, which he thankfully has not figured out completely yet. He can clasp it in but hasn't figure out how to remove. Seeing that so many things for kids have clasps, I don't want him learning how to unclasp himself from his feeding chair or from his car chair, so I wish this wasn't part of the bear. There is a TEENY tiny velcro which barely closes, I wish it was bigger! It offers him zero challenge and he takes delight with hearing velcro tearing. He likes the sound and this is barely audible or strong enough to make the noise he likes. It is soft and machine washable. Brightly colored and very cute. Safe for young ones.

Great book for teaching the basics to your kid
I’ve been looking at buying this for my son for months! So excited to give it to him in his easter basket. I pulled it out of the package and tested it out. I love the functionality of everything except the shoe laces, they’re the really round style lace that doesn’t stay tied well and they’re too short to easily tie in a bow. I may end up replacing the laces, but everything else works really well. He’s been showing a lot of interest in buckles, buttons, and zippers the last month so I’m looking forward to him having this to practice with.

Cute! But shoe laces are too short.
Really cute. The bear comes in a red and clear carry bag. He has a buckle and a button on the front. The button is sewn on pretty tight, and it is big enough that a child could not choke on or swallow. The bear features a zipper, a Velcro pocket, and shoes strings inside. My only complaint is that the shoe laces are too short for a child to tie. I can barely tie them.

Soft and cute, lots of activities
This Melissa and Doug Soft Activity book is great for 2 year olds who are learning how to get into a little trouble! Essentially this has all of the features of getting clothes on - a zipper, a button, a buckle, etc. It is supposed to teach children to become familiar with these mechanisms in a safe setting. My child lost interest in it initially but later was interested. However, though she had fun i am not sure if she actually learned anything. Either way, the toy was soft and she likes teething on the bear head :)

Cute, purchased for the buckles, less expensive than alternatives
I bought this to distract my 9 month old during air travel. How do babies know the difference between a "real" buckle and a buckle on a toy?! It seems he did because it didn't hold his attention for long. But my 2.5 year old enjoyed playing with it for a while, and they both played with it here and there over the duration of the trip. The shoelaces are way too short to tie but everything else functions pretty well. It's lightweight and a good price compared to other similar items.

Lots to do on a compact, cute bear
This was a great buy. I was going to buy a “busy board”... and then a block with all the buckles around it... but I decided on this bear and am so glad I did! On the front, there’s a button and buckle, and on the inside, there’s a Velcro pocket, zipper, and strap to tuck the bear’s overall in to, AND a little shoe lace. It’s great... my 15 month loves it in the car and at church. It’s soft and easy to tuck into the diaper bag.

Great Purchase
This book is well-constructed and fully functional. I bought it for my two-year old, who is very good with his hands for his age, and the only thing he struggles with is fitting the big button on the front though its eyelet. It did not take him long to figure out all of the book's functions, but he still plays with it a year later. This was a great purchase for an inquisitive toddler.

Dress up bear
Although it is good size, big for little hands, both my kids weren’t too interested I don’t know why, looks interesting enough for me!

Little things
This is a great learning tool! My lil guy loves it. I do wish the shoe lace was longer as I find with him learning he needs the extra length and for me to show him it the "bunny ears" way there just isn't enough length. The front buckle is nice and big but stiff so definitely be mindful of the littles pinching their hands if you purchase this.

I love Melissa and Doug stuff as I think it is ...
I love Melissa and Doug stuff as I think it is really well designed and great quality and so bought this without much thought. I cannot be more dissappointed in it! the concept is a really great one but the execution leaves a lot to be desired in my mind. I have the following comments with the design:1. Firstly, the clip/latch in the front is too stiff for me to easily undo - let alone my 2yo.2. The buttonhole is too tight to be allow the button to through easily - it was really difficult for me and impossibly for my son.3. The zip on the inside left side is great, however I think a trick was missed in not making a little pocket underneath the zip.4. It is not possible in my opinion to tie a bow/knot in the shoelaces because the string is too slippery and won't hold. It would be nice if the shoelaces could also be laced.5. The buckle is OK as is the velcro close pocket on the right. the velcro is very poor quality though and it barely sticks when brand new and is certainly not going to stand any use.So sorry to be writing a bad review, especially for a Melissa and Doug item!

Cute and wellmade
This is a cute and well-made activity book for toddlers who are learning to dress (themselves). It washes well and helps keep my daughter busy in the car. I wish it had a loop I could use to attach it to the car seat/ stroller.

Misses the mark
it is a fine soft activity toy - not the most interesting and bulky so it is not convenient to throw in the diaper bag. The clips and buttons are for older children but the plush style is for infants so it just misses the mark.
