Sir Charlie Stinky Socks: The Pirate's Curse

This is as fun of a story as Sir Charlie and the Really Big Adventure! Clever problem solver Charlie is back at it! This story isn't as developed as Really Big Adventure but it is delightful. The quirky lay out is entertaining and clever, BUT... These stories would be more accessibly read in a more standard, flap-free format. The text shaping makes it harder to read aloud and the flaps make it difficult for children to hold the book (or adults to replace the flaps and move on). Love the adorable happy ending and the moral nugget of making the most of your talents instead of hiding them! :)

Cannot recommend the Sir Charlie books enough - ALL of them! So cleverly written with beautiful magic and surprises throughout. Picked up the first one in the series (The Really Big Adventure) as a whim purchase in Tesco... soooo glad I did. We now have all seven of the books - they are by far my son's (four years old), and my, favourites (and we own a LOT of books!)! My little boy laughs during every read-through - these books have brought a lot of happiness into our home. PLEASE make audio/music CDs for all of these books Egmont/Kristina Stephenson! Love, love, love, love, love.

My 5 year old son loves these books. This one has now completed his collection. fun, interesting stories with giant flaps that will keep children enthralled.
