This is the most durable and well made Slip Lead Leash I have found online. The stopper and the end parts of this leash is real leather!The rivets are reliable and does not easily come off.The material feels very sturdy. The 4 feet version is best to use for big dogs for better control. It feels strong unlike the others that feels like foam material when you touch it.The stopper is big and wide enough that it doesn’t go through the O ring unlike other Slip Lead Leash I bought like “Friends Forever”.The main purpose of the stopper is to prevent the leash from sliding out from the neck. Mendota made this absolutely sturdy and provided a wide piece of leather.MAKE SURE you know how to properly use a “Slip Lead Leash”, how to properly place it on the dog’s neck. It should be high up, under the ears. NOT on the base of the neck otherwise it will fail.Placing it on the base of the neck or the lower part of the neck gives the dog more power to pull.Placing it on the middle of the neck will make them cough. My dog is e-collar trained, so I got this leash to avoid having another collar on his neck when we’re walking, rather than as a training tool. Perfect length for a dog who is in heel next to you and easy to get on and off for an off leash walk where you may have to slip it on quickly in the presence of another dog. Probably the best I’ve owned!

I've tried all kinds of leashes and collars and still my Basset Hound and my mini Schauzerpulled so hard during our frequent walks that I dreaded what should have been a very enjoyable activity. I finally did some research into dog pulling after watching my neighbors struggle with their dogs as well. These Mendota leads are unbelievable. For the first time ever my dogs walked beside me and there was not one incident of them pulling on my arm. It took them just a couple of minutes to adjust to this type of walking and then it was a breeze. The fun colors are great. The construction of the product is top notch. The leather accents are very attractive. To put it in perspective, these leads are like a designer purse, whereas the clip leashes and collars were purely utilitarian.

It is great quality. It is a bit short, so I recommend getting a longer one unless you intentionally want a short leash.

This is my second leash from this brand and I love it! I bought my first one at a local boutique for twice the price.. from now on I will order on Amazon!

Seriously buy this leash! Hold the loop in one hand and the other hand holds the rope across you body with your dog right next to your side. My 80 pound pitbull no longer pulls me forward. He matches my slow stride right next to me.My mil dog goes crazy when other dogs are around. She can pull up and tighten the loop in the appropriate place right behind the ears and the dog calms down. This tiny Chihuahua had attached several dog but not anymore because of this leash!! Do it, you'll be amazing with the charge.Nobody asked me to do this review. I just love the leash!!

This is by far the best leash I've ever owned. The simplicity of it blows my mind! I am able to have more enjoyable walks with my dog Henry. For the first time, he is getting this whole loose-leash walking thing! I owe it to hours of training and this leash! It's easy to use and durable. As a dogsitter, I am constantly walking all different types of dogs and all of them are not properly leash trained. This slip lead is a miracle for dog owners/dog sitters and I could see it being a staple leash at a shelter. The 4" length is perfect for our use. I've recommended it to other dog owners as well.PS. Henry is a 4/5 year old Houng/Catahoula mix with a fair amount of energy. He follows his nose!

After trying this on my 70 lb. leash pulling dog, and using training techniques from dog trainers like Cesar Milan, I gave up on this item. It seems only to keep choking her. It doesn't release very well when you let up on the tension. I found a gentle lead that looks like a harness for the purpose of training a pulling dog, and it did the trick. This stays hung up on the wall. Not sure what to do with it. The return window has closed.

Mi perro es una doberman hembra y le sirvió, me permitió sacarla a pasear y tener una correa corta para traerla a mi lado. El problema que podrías tener si te molesta es ese, es corta, pero para mí no es algo negativo pues es muy inquieta y me gusta tenerla junto a mí. Además tiene un grosor decente y me da la confianza de tener una resistencia a la cual tomara tiempo romperse.

not only is it stunning, it stays on well and is even pretty water proof and dry even after a few miles on Dartmoor!!! Very Pleased will it...and so's Finley my Dog!!!

The Slip Lead is excellent in training a dog

Excellent quality. Has survived much use and mud so far! Comfortable to use and would buy again. We use them for both our medium large strong dogs.
