The Baby Swap

I love this book. The illustrations are hilarious. Caroline Crocodile wants to swap out her brother for another baby animal. Her brother dribbles, drools, smells stinky and hogs Mama Crocodile's lap. (The diaper changing scene is worth buying the book for.) One day Mama Crocodile has to go hat shopping, and leaves Caroline with her baby brother. Maybe she could trade him for a cute baby panda.Turns out the baby panda has issues, too. Hmm, how about a Baby elephant, or twin tigers? All kinds of mayhem happens with different baby animal choices, which makes Caroline Crocodile's baby brother much more appealing.Any older brother or sister should LOVE this book. The illustrations are humorous. It will make older siblings glad they have the younger brother or sister they were given. This would be a fun classroom read.

Poor little Caroline Crocodile has a smelly, drooling, no fun baby brother -- and her mom seems to love him more. When Mama Crocodile leaves Caroline in charge of baby brother, she comes up with a great plan to swap him for one that's just right. Caroline steps in to The Baby Shop for the exchange. The assistant happens to have several babies for Caroline to try out, but each one has a good reason to be swapped as well. The baby panda is a fussy eater. The two teeny tigers are a terrible twosome. In the end, she realizes the brother she has is just right for their family. The colorful illustrations really capture the hilarity of each new baby Caroline tries out.

A lovely book for all young firstborn daughters who need to come to terms with the fact that the second child has come to stay. Of course, she wants rid of him. He takes all the space on mommy's lap, he drools and he is no fun to play with. All these thoughts secretly harboured by eldest daughters are brought out in this well-illustrated book. Makes a great present to an eldest daughter struggling with her envy.

My kids enjoyed this

The Baby Swap is a charming, and often hilarious, story. Perfect for a child who has recently had a sibling. Our sweet heroine, Caroline, is not particularly enthused with her little brother. When left alone with him while her mother runs an errand, Caroline decides to visit the Baby Shop and swap her little brother for another, better, baby. Hilarity ensues. In the end, Caroline realizes that her own little brother is the best brother for her. Lovely story with delightfully retro illustrations.
