Yes, it's wonderful for cooking French fries in. Suggest preheating the pan. Best part.....re-crisping any left-over fries!

The pan is not designed to be used with added fats or oils. We do not recommend putting butter in the pan as you asked.

It is about average & heavy. It gets real hot to handle & some one with a hand promble, it would be very hard to pick up

It depends on the shape of the object. Metal can cause arcing and sparking in a microwave, but only if it has a certain type of edge, like a point. Carefully designed metal pans can be microwaved...that is why it works! Instead of sending out sparks, it heats up and sizzles your food.
