Build the ultimate media PC with this specialized compact system kit. Just add a notebook drive, CPU, memory, and your own breed of operating system and software. The system is designed to work with any thin mini-itx motherboard with a half height back plate. It is the only 1U, thin media PC mini-itx configuration available anywhere. This handcrafted aircraft aluminum unit measures a mere 8.5”(l) x 8.75”(w) x 1.75”(h). It can be combined with an additional unit in a 1U dual rack-mount configuration using our specialized Dual Unit Rackmount Faceplate (sold separately). In addition, it can be combined with our optical/notebook drive unit which looks great on any shelf. It can also be mounted vertically using the VESA mount holes in the bottom of the case. This kit requires a thin mini-itx motherboard and CPU which is not included. Depending on the motherboard chosen, you may need to purchase a CPU Cooler. We do not provide the CPU cooler. If needed, we recommend the Dynatron K2 or K199 coolers with a side vent for best cooling. The Notebook Drive bracket provided in the kit mounts as pictured and may not fit the same for all motherboards as the components on some motherboards require a modification of the single support leg of the bracket. This is not a difficult adjustment. Some of the Thin mini-ITX motherboards that can be mounted in our case include the following: Asus H81T/CSM, Q87T/CSM; ECS H87H3-TI, Q77H2-TI: Gigabyte GA-H77TN, GA-H87TN; as well as many others. FEATURES •1U media PC thin mini-itx case (VESA mount compatible) •R6 compatible IR Receiver mounting plate built in (IR Receiver not Included) •1-40mm exhaust fan installed (mountings for up to 3 fans) •Power button with blue LED installed •Dual USB 2.0 and Audio Jacks installed in the front plate •Notebook drive bracket with a custom thin 8" SATA data cable •Detailed Instructions & YouTube Video.

Nice looking, good price and features, with issues
It's a very nice case. Well built, aluminum frame with nice finish on the outside. In fact, for the appearance, material, and the quality, the case could be at higher price with other brand. As always, nothing perfect, this case has some issues.Power switch wiring: as others comment, the wire broke at the first attempt to slightly move it in order to place the mother board in the case. Luckily, I have tool to rework on the wire. Two things that contribute to the issue. The wire is way too small, the actual wire. And, pins from the switch are too short, there is not much for the shrink tubing to grad on, to provide the extra cover. Especially the 2 pins closed to the switch housing, there is no gap between the pin and the housing. So the shrink tubing can not grab much of the pin. I blame the switch designer more than the case designer.Another issue with this case is the standoff (where the mother board is mounted) height is shorter than usual standoff by about 0.15". I mount the Asus thin mini ITX H81T into this case. On the mobo, there are screws that hold the metal CPU bracket. These screws go thru to the bottom of the board. With the short standoff, these screws push again the bottom of the case. No way to mount the mobo this way. I have to grind off the screws to be flat with the CPU bottom plate. Then I could mount the mobo evenly. An extra step is to make sure that no pin from the mobo will touch the case when mounted. I guess the included clear lexan sheet serves the purpose. In all, I'm happy with the purchase. With some extra time and care, the case will serve its purpose as intended. It's look elegant too. But if you do not have a soldering iron, solder, shrink tubing to rework the power switch. Or a tool to adjust the length of the screws, you should be better off to skip this case.

The case does what it supposed to and I liked the option of putting in additional fans
Bought it, thinking I would be extra careful as others had indicated that the cable to the power led light gets disconnected. Unfortunately this did not work, it still came off.The case does what it supposed to and I liked the option of putting in additional fans, which can only be supported at bottom. Using it with a jetway board as a pfsense router, works nice and not overly hot, cpu at 46 c.The plastic at the bottom was a good touch, but did not like the support for the harddrive, found the floating end should not be supported on the board; my mother board it's over a capacitor. I removed it as i am using mstata.

Get Out Your Soldering Iron and Grinder
Overall, a nice case. I purchased 2 of these as well as the faceplate to rack mount them both in a 1U space. That feature is what led me to choose this case. The case is built from solid materials and overall looks and works well. However, I knocked a couple of stars off for the very same reasons others have mentioned. Inteset really needs to address these, especially since I see these issues being raised by others from more than a year back.Issue 1The motherboard mounting points aren't quite right. I chose the Silverstone NT07-115X low-profile fans and 2 different ASUS thin ITX motherboards for my builds. The fans have a bottom plate that causes the motherboards to bind just a little when mounted. As one other reviewers noted; if the standoffs were just a few thousandths of an inch longer this wouldn't be an issue. You either need to live with the binding or grind the screws on the fan plate down a bit. With my ASUS Q87T/CSM motherboard I was not able to use the faceplate and get the screws to line up. I ended up leaving the faceplate off to get it mounted.Issue 2The power switch is a huge annoyance. If you don't have the tools and/or expertise to solder small parts, don't buy this case. One of mine came out of the box with one of the leads broken from the switch. The other broke two leads just from normal handling during assembly. They're easy enough to fix if you have the tools, expertise and patience, but you shouldn't need to fix them.Issue 3The cover screws precision is not the greatest. The holes don't quite line up. Add to the fact the screws are soft and you'll probably end up with a goofed up screw or two trying to get the cover on.

Great compact case
Great case! I've purchased 9 of these cases and haven't had any issues with them so far. One of the best features is that it two of them can be rack mounted side by side with an optional rack mount kit.

Great case but low-profile CPU cooler is always required
This is a very attractive and well designed case that can either stand alone (as shown) or be rack mounted with an optional set of mounting brackets. But, please note that even though the description says "some of these boards will require the purchase of a low profile CPU cooler" the reality is that ALL of those boards will require a low profile CPU cooler. It is not possible to use the stock CPU cooler from a retail Intel Celeron, Pentium or Core i3/i5/i7 processor.

This is such a great case for housing items that need a 1U footprint
This is such a great case for housing items that need a 1U footprint. Hope they keep making them because it is hard to find such a box.

Excellent. Removing the power switch before installing the MB helps.
Worked exactly as planned - two side-by-side with a rack-mount faceplate. Good appearance and quality. Except for the power switch. Hard not to break off the resistor soldered directly to the pin while installing the motherboard, but easy to repair.

This stunning case is a piece of art.
It's build so solid yet compact. With the elegant brushed aluminium bezel(cover) and blue status light it is a conversation piece that looks great on my desk.
