ConantVRG1BP Vermont Rain Gauge, Bronze Patina

I live in Thailand. Mounted it on wall with tube well above top of wall. Works great as I did want both inches and cm. Disappointed now as the printing on the glass is coming off. It appears the sun takes its toll and steel frame scrapes the print also.No matter that the printing has worn off I now have it mounted on a pole in the middle of a plant in the yard as I had to move it away from the wall because of the banana leaves overhead. I now look at the glass to see how much rain has come and can figure approximately how much has fallen. Can measure it with ruler if I needed something accurate but that is not necessary over here .

It’s a bit small, but works and is not unattractive.

I purchased this metal and glass rain gauge in 2014 after all of the plastic gauges I have tried deteriorated very quickly, in 2 or 3 seasons. I assumed that glass and metal would last longer than plastic. Its small size makes it a little less accurate than larger ones. It worked fine the first year, but the main problem recently occurred this season (winter 2015-16) when I discovered that the measurement markings printed on the exterior of the glass tube have begun to disintegrate and wash off the surface, rendering the gauge useless.

It was not a good description of it on the website. It indicated that it had a pole for it included. I did not have one in my order.

Nice rain gauge, but the numbers came off very quickly. I easily fixed this with a permanent marker and a ruler, but for a rain gauge, it did not hold up to being outside very well

This is a great rain gauge, we already have one in our garden. We bought this for our son so he can know how much rain they have had while gone from his home. We always take the glass gauge in during the winter months (short winter for us in the South) so that it doesn't break during freezes. Only negative was that this vendor took at least 2 weeks extra to deliver. We ordered a number of things from Amazon at the same time & got concerned that this would not arrive in time for Christmas

I purchased this item about two years ago and the gradations and numbers have completely disappeared so it's now impossible to see how much rain has fallen. Forget about this product!

Mounted to broom stick, allowing for easier checking by those of us who have difficulty bending down to ground level.
