Not as difficult as they look!
I am making these with my son who has a fascination for aviary birds. I bought the book and at first glance thought these are way beyond my capabilities as a slow & simple knitter, how wrong I was... The book gives easy step by step instructions and already we have completed one project. Anyone can do these birds with basic knowledge of knitting the book does give full instructions on all stitches and techniques too. Great purchase & we can't wait to have a complete aviary soon!!

Nice birds but on the small side
Nice little birds.Little is the word,, I did the blackbird first and it's about the size of a sparrow. However I've since done the kingfisher and parakeet (in yellow not green as in pattern) using a size larger needles which gives a much more satisfactory result size wise and it's still tight enough to hold the stuffing satisfactorilyPatterns are easy to follow but I've had lots of experience knitting toys and this undoubtedly helped, probably not suitable for absolute beginners

Excellent
A beautiful book, lovely pictures. Have done several of the birds, and a flock of flamingos, (really cute) I used double knitting yarn so came out slightly larger. Would recommend.

I'm a huge Sue Stratford fan and her latest book is wonderful
A big selection of birds to choose from to knit in this lovely volume. I'm a big Sue Stratford fan and have all her books - the Cats & Kittens and Dogs & Puppies ones are awesome as well. :-)
