First of all this is a very light easy to use DVD/BLU Ray player, it is possible however that I just had a run of bad luck.I bought this to use on my new (under 1 month old) Surface Pro 7, the problem with these devices are they are in effect tablets which double as PC's, and once the cover keyboard is fitted and used with the easel stand, the usb-a and usb-c sockets are about 8 inches in the air, the cable on this blu-ray/dvd player is just not long enough to have it laying on the desk or work surface, so you would need a USB Extender. I hit other snags too, I think my Surface Pro had a defect on the USB A device and however hard I tried it refused to work and only worked on the USB-C.I contacted the seller who is very quick to reply so there is excellent customer service to report the LED on my unit fails to light, however they continued to offer things I could try to resolve this, when I had already tried them.I have returned my unit for full refund, however I have no doubt this unit works perfectly and is very relaible, I did however find when using the USB-C connection my unit was very noisy!.I also now have to get my surface pro 7 returned/replaced under warranty for a new unit.

I use it for downloading films/movies to blank blu-ray discs. It's perfect! But if you don't have a built in disc player, then this is for you, but you can't watch movies unless you have a built in disc player which most if not all do not have. It'll play movies that aren't protected by copy writes or whatever!

Biggest problem windows needs additional software to play blu ray

Brilliant product. I've used both usb and usb c. I've used on Windows 8 and 10 Enterprise (and win 10 pro) and found it is plug and play which is brilliant!Blu ray play and burning works fine. Came well packaged. Would recommend to anyone.

Drive was very noisy from day 1, sounded like the disc was rubbing the inside of the drive, then stopped working all together after a week. Returned for a refund.

Delivered promptly, cheap and works well.

It needs usb 3 to work properly

The laptop simply doesn't recognise it, and when looking into it, it says no software needed when actually yes, you do need a software for blu rays. Very disappointing.
