Chords for Mandolin, Irish Banjo, Bouzouki, Tenor Mandola, Mandocello

Classic Bouzouki
The book was helpful, but I am still searching for chords for the tricordo, as my bouzouki has only three strings, not four.

NOT for the Irish bouzouki, but okay for mandolin
The book is an okay starter chord-book for mandolin and other instruments tuned on G in fifths (G2-D3-A3-E2 or octave transpositions of that). It contains one page of fingering diagrams for 16 chords each for all 11 notes in the chromatic scale, with two versions each of major and minor chords, and about one each of diminished, augmented, 7th, and 6th chords. No open chords, no mention of sliding-pattern chords, and no chords with one course of strings left out.The book is absolutely awful for Irish bouzouki, since Irish bouzouki is tuned either G2-D3-A3-D2 or A2-D3-A3-D2. (A bouzouki tuned in G2-D3-A3-E2 is in effect an octave mandolin, not an Irish bouzouki.) A beginner can't easily transpose up or down two frets in his/her head, and even if he/she could the extra stretch from the two-fret difference makes the mandolin fingerings invalid.

What the......!!!
I could kick myself for not finding out more about the book before I bought it . It doesn’t discuss alternative tunings for any instruments. Manually transposing all the tenor banjo chords is pretty lame especially since that’s the instrument on the cover. Caveat emptor.

total junk
This book is the lousiest chord anthology I've ever seen. It's really awful.I came across it on Amazon because I was searching for a mandocello chord book. Well, this book looked promising but I was unsure, so I went to my local sheet music store and leafed through a copy. What junk! First of all, it's simply about 8 pages of chords for the mandolin, and not even the complete gallery of chords. Second, there are no chords for the mandocello, banjo, bazouki, or anything else.So how, you ask, can the publisher get away with advertising that such chords are to be found within?Well, since there are only mandolin chords, and since those other instruments all have four strings and are also tuned in fifths, the authors sheepishly inform you, in a short paragraph at the beginning of the text, that, hey, if one were to transpose the book's mandolin chords (GDAE) up or down by a fifth, one would in theory have chords that could be played on those other instruments!Duh. I'd like to meet the guy out there who's playing instruments as obscure as the mandocello and Irish bazouki but at the same time isn't aware of this.In short, what a ripoff. YOU YOURSELF have to transpose the chords for use on your instrument. And only a fraction of possible chords are even included. Now I realize a complete listing of (even just the playable) chords would be as thick as a phone book, but 8 pages? You've got to be joking. You're better off just getting on the internet. This book is such a misleading ripoff, that as a conscientious mandocelloist, I'm mulling over whether to email Amazon to ask them to stop selling it, as the title is, I submit, deliberately misleading.I did, though, later find exactly what I wanted. The productions of a group called "frettedfriends," which Amazon does offer from time to time, are the first and last word in chord bibles for many of these rarer stringed instruments. They have quite an array by this point. For example, their mandocello chord bible can be found at: The Mandocello Chord Bible (Fretted Friends) Now THAT'S a quality product.

Chords for mandolin.Irish banjo,bouzouki
it's OK for mandolin chords but I tune my bouzouki GDAD and it only gives chords for a bouzouki in mandolin tuningwhich is GDAE. Try playing an F chord on a bouzouki in that tuning and it takes 6 frets. My fingers aren't that long.

Get this and nothing else
This is really all you need to get to know all the chords available to the Irish banjo mandolin etc etc. Forget the ones which say that they have 2,000 + chords in them. Too complicated. I like the simplicity of this book. basically for GDAE tuning but a quick method of working out what each chord 'shape' becomes in other tunings is described in a simple non cluttered manner. Good value

A little bit "short" on the variations of chords.
A little bit "short" on the variations of chords, but great beginner collection of chords!! I like it and using it often.

Bien utile
Tous les accords "brut de fonderie" pas de fioritures, et dommage de ne pas avoir renseigné d'office toutes les cases (peut-être pour des accordages exotiques?)
