Blues Bass - Book/Online Audio (Bass Builders)

Good book for reference
The book is written based on a simple premise, to expose you to many different bass lines, in different blues styles, in many different keys so that you can build your repertoire. The benefit of this is you should be able to identify which bass lines "speak", get a feel of the genre you're playing in, and maybe even rearrange them to something more suited to your flavor. The section on soloing is similar. There are 20+ solos that span a full 12 bars each and 1 that spans 24 bars. Most of them are based on a simple call/response and repetition with variations. The only thing I wish this book covered was the major blues as it is used in the book but doesn't really explain how to adjust to it. But to be fair, I may have over looked it. You can deduce some of that yourself because each example does provide the chord changes but it may not be apparent for some players.

So boring...
Dear Mr. Liebman, you're boring. Not one example from an actual Blues classic?Your own riffs are repetitious, I listened through your CD and found myself marking, maybe ten of the 74 tracts as interesting, thats about 10-15% of your work, that's a poor average. Not worth the list price.Your bass sound is the deal buster, sounds like you're playing a fretless Jazz Bass with a midrange preference on your amp? That's a jazz sound, not blues.Your drummer and guitarist, some of your students maybe?I think you can do well playin' that way in the Borsch Belt, but not on the Chitlin circuit. For me this book is a dust magnet.Sorry.

Blues Bass
Excellent learning tool. Leibman is an amazing bass player and has broken down the bass lines so that hey are easy to learn. I look forward to getting to the section of solos. Good for any beginning to intermediate student.

There is no CD with the book grrrrr
The book looks nice. But It doesn’t come with a CD as advertised. I prefer a CD to the online app. It suits my workflow better. I should have gone for a less expensive CD version second hand

Small but useful
I dislike that it is little as for material. I like the endings on blues songs it provides, also the little blues solo section in the end
