People always tell me the old tamarind is better for stone lithography, and I'm sure that may be true, but I want to learn the new things going on with plate/stone lithography as well as some more modern techniques. If you want just stone lithography, then go ahead and buy the older version, but I'm sure you'll be finding yourself wanting to know how to do more modern techniques sometime.

My introduction to Tamarind began over thirty five years ago as an art student. My instructor, a master printmaker from the early Tamarind school, used a predecessor to this book as the classroom guide. This updated version is the definitive guide for lithographic printmaking and is a must have for the artist contemplating lithography. The material is technical but richly illustrated and represents an evolution of the techniques used for stone and plate lithography. Highly recommended.

Tamarind Techniques... is an outstanding reference. It had been many years since I have printed and this text erased the effects of time on my memory. It is well written and organized, easily understandable, and concise and to the point.
