Works great for me
This chalk was found to be between master chalk, and, magic chalk as far as number of hits without a miscue by Dr Dave Alciatore, an instructor at Colorado State. He is renowned as a pool instructor and player. His site is worth looking at for not only instruction, but, for the technical why’s of this great game. He states that if you chalk between each shot, it doesn’t much matter which chalk you use, however if you are not so fastidious with your chalking some of the longer lasting chalks may help. As with everything there are up and down sides to a long lasting chalk, however if you are interested in this, you must check out his website. You can just search for “what are the best pool chalks” and find his studies on this subject. So if it doesn’t matter, why this chalk? Well I do not like pocket chalkers and prefer the magnetic kind with a spot on my belt for the chalk. I also prefer a cover for the chalk when I am not playing, as I carry my chalk in a pocket all the time. The Great White has a magnet on both the chalk and on the belt holder, stronger than most sets I have used and comes with a rubber cap to keep chalk spots out of my pants pocket. I also find that the chalk goes on well and seems to work well. A bit expensive? Well, yes, however it is worth it to me for the convenience of the magnetic holder. I have used Magic Chalk, Master chalk, and Blue Diamond chalks, as well. All have worked well, but, again I am willing to pay for the convenience of the magnets. The Great White pieces also seem to be bigger than regular chalk, so maybe it is not that expensive after all.

Not worth it for the price.
Everything about the presentation screams GREAT CHALK!! The cool looking shark on the label, the name, the magnet built into the bottom. It pretty much stopped there for me. I got the chalk. I was so excited. I started using it. A few important things I noticed. Lack of Consistency all around. The lack consistency of the spread on the tip, the lack consistency of how many hits before a miscue. I just felt like for the money there is better and cheaper chalk out there. I did trying using it every shot and the chalk just didn’t hold. Yes it doesn’t stain as much as masters, silver cup, predator, etc., but I found I was fine with going back to magic and silver cup chalk. This is my opinion of course. Others I know swear by it. Before I got the chalk I only heard good things. I appreciate what the maker is trying to do. This chalk is just not for me. Find out yourself. I have already sold mine to people who love it.
