Big Date Watch
I like this watch very much. It has chronograph functions yet is a bit restrained and classic-looking; has a bit of that 1960-1970 style going. The band is dark brown, not black. The dial and date are nicely legible, which is what I was going for. As for performance, it is as accurate as the typical quartz watch, which means you won't have to worry about that.A few comments and pointers:I believe I've seen some reviews rating this watch down because the stopwatch hands didn't point to zero when the stopwatch was stopped and reset, as they should have. Apparently this can happen, but the manual includes instructions on how to adjust the stopwatch hands to point to zero again, if that is necessary. Mine pointed to zero properly as I received it, so I didn't have to adjust this. The three subdials are, left side, the standard second hand; right side, the 24 hour dial; bottom, the 60-minute counter for the stopwatch. That bottom hand and the big second hand pivoted at the center of the dial are for the stopwatch. The stopwatch is accurate to 1/5 of a second. It might be hard to read the dial to that level of accuracy, but there are fine marks around the outside of the dial so it could be done if necessary. The 24 hour dial is a styling feature, I suppose; I consider it rather useless. It is locked to the main hour hand, so it's unable to display a time zone other than the one the main watch hands are set for. It points to 6 at 6 AM, 12 at noon, 18 at 6 PM, and 24 at midnight. Which irks me a bit, because there is no such thing as 24-Hundred Hours. In the 24 hour clock, midnight is Zero Hours. But good luck finding a 24 hour clock or watch dial that gets that right. There are some, but not many! The "big date" is in two windows at the top of the dial. Each window has its own "wheel," or ring, or whatever it is, with numbers printed on it. The tens digit is close to the watch face and the ones digit is a little further down, but the size of the windows is large enough that this doesn't affect your ability to read the date. Some "big date" watches that I have seen, especially some from China, can show dates as high as the 39th of the month. This Seiko's calendar works properly in that regard; I mean that on the morning after the 31st of a month, the watch calendar says 01, not 32. Of course in months shorter than 31 days you'll have to set the calendar ahead one click at the end of the month (or several, if it's February) but that's true of any mechanical date watch except those with perpetual calendars, which are usually a lot more costly.I could give you all sorts of reasons why I needed this watch, but truth is I just loved the way it looked. :)

Not as advertised
Not as advertised - advertised with a black leather strap, but arrive with a very cheap looking brown faux reptile strap.

Shop around
Nice watch but found it £50 cheaper on another website with no mention that it should have been £400 so feel slightly cheated!

Really nice watch
The face of the watch really is classy and modern. The only negative is that the strap was a little bit short and was also brown as opposed to jet black which is what I initially pictured it as. Nonetheless it was a great purchase!

Very good and beautiful
Very lovely watch. Bright face, easy to read, well-built.One minus point: the strap is smaller than standard (18mm) and is quite hard which makes it difficult to adjust the length in the first time trying on

Nice and beautiful
Nice and beautiful watch! I had not seen the watch live, before my purchase (only in photos and videos), but it is even more beautiful live. Very classic and bright. The watch came very well packaged and with Seiko warranty card.Recommended!
