I'm not sure. I've had both styles, as well as boots, and now I have these. I think the distinctions to focus on are that these are "platform" and they have the nice cushion around the top of the heel, which makes them significantly more comfortable than the ones without (though, over time, the cushion material does start to break down). One other thing I would advise: I found this particular shoe to be quite stiff and narrow, so ended up ordering one size up. With that one adjustment, I really like them. Be sure to wear them with socks while breaking them in. Hope this helps!

They do not carry half sizes, when my daughter ordered hers she got a 4 ...she normally wears a 6 or 61/2 in woman’s. Hope that helps
