Amazing Race, Season 17

I like the Amazing Race minus the rude behavior of some of the racers.

Oh man, I just watched the first episode (of Amazing Race 17), and I laughed myself silly! The team I nicknamed "Dumb and Dumber" (aka "the tat people") were hilarious! "I didn't even know there WAS a stonehenge!" (Me: "Then, what are you doing on The Amazing Race? Did you get lost on your way to Dog the Bounty Hunter?"), "What's a battlement? Are you a battlement? Are YOU a battlement? Who's a battlement?" (Me: "Right beside you, geniuses! The thing with flags on it.") "Where are the boats?" (Me: "Right beside you, geniuses! They're next to the water, duh!"), and my personal favorite was encouraged by Phil asking at the end, "What country is this?", to which she replies, "London". While I was dying laughing, Phil chimed in with, "Yes, this is the country of London." Those two need training wheels! And a dictionary... and a 3-digit IQ score, collectively.But there were plenty of other fun teams, such as "My l33t navigational skills" (aka "Drive around for HOURS before stopping to ask directions") and "Bully boy and his blondie" (the mean football player and the girl they called "Tinkerbell"). So, yeah, hilarious episode!

Don’t like the face we have to pay for Andy Griffith. I can watch it for free on several channels.

Wow, even though I'm a latecomer to the Amazing Race, we're having a blast watching the old seasons on Amazon Prime. Nat and Cat were the slow-but steady team that everyone wants to win. Who doesn't like two doctors, one competing with diabetes and a crippling fear of heights. They never seemed to get mad at each other. No drama queens here. It was interesting watching Nat eat met for the first time in a long time. This show is so much fun to watch. Season 17 was one of my favorites. Great locations and teams you love and love to hate. It's all in good fun, but sometimes, the members of the teams turn nasty to each other. Hello Nick. Don't treat Vicki like that! Guard the gift of her with diligence!

This season is one of the best! The teams are almost all memorable, and some of the locations and tasks were interesting (I especially enjoyed finding Ghana on the map and the teams getting to work on the school there, plus the Race visited the Arctic Circle for the first time). The winners are one of my favorite winning teams overall! The only drawback is the negativity of the males on dating teams toward their partners- one was especially uncaring about his girlfriend's struggles during the race. Overall, though, I found this to be one of the most enjoyable seasons to watch! Thank you, Amazon Prime, for allowing us to stream this season!

I really like The Amazing Race, and this is a great season of it.The extra stuff is great as well, like what happens to the contestants who got eliminated; I wasn’t aware of where they went to, and that they spoke to the next pair to get eliminated at the end of the day, since I only saw it on the TV.This is the 1st DVD set of the show that I bought. I would say that the compression is okay, and the frame rate is definitely as it should be, but as far as the resolution is concerned, it looked to me like they de-interlaced it first, so it seems a bit pixelated. Maybe if you watch it on your TV it isn’t so bad, but on my computer monitor it was noticeable. (And I watch nearly everything on my computer, so that is in comparison with other DVDs.) In that regard I think it could have looked a bit better. Maybe they could knock the price down a bit. ;-)I know others at Amazon said that they had issues even playing the DVDs; well I must have got lucky, because I had no problems.

This is addictive and keeps you coming back for more. You find yourself drawn to certain personalities teams that you want to win and other you want to fail and it full of surprises. Sometime the bad acts win over the warmer personality. You get see all these different countries and cultures which just by itself is worth wild and the game makes it more interesting vs. watching a documentary. Watch it see for yourself after all what else do you have to do?

Just found this show on Amazon, and I really enjoy it.Watching the contestants travel the globe, overcome exhaustion, jet lag, cutlure and language barriers all while trying to keep their wits about them is quite intersting.My only complaint is that I wish Amazon had all the seasons available. I have to go through Hulu to watch season 1 and they have commercials :( For that reason I would give it 4 stars, but I am not rating the service, rather the program.

This was a decent season, at the high end of Amazing Race seasons, as they go. Unusual locations — Ghana, Russia, Norway etc. — and some compelling teams to root for. One always needs a rooting interest. As another reviewer noted here, though, "the picture could have been better." Yes! Also, the DVD is in mono. Not stereo. Mono. Think about that: This season was filmed around 2010-2012; stereo has been the norm in broadcast TV since Miami Vice in the mid 1980s. Other Amazing Race seasons (most,but not all) have been released on DVD in stereo. Mono? Really? Bad picture, bad sound ... one must want this DVD really badly to spring good money for it.

First all female win, very enjoyable watch.
