Deceptive advertising. This is not chef grade quality at all. It is Not the sturdiest product. The two metal pins that hold the slicer to the base fall out and if you lose them the product is useless.Does a “so-so” job of slicing eggs, would not stand up to any sort of heavy use. The base is sturdy but that is about the only good thing about this poorly made product. Don’t use it for anything else as it is NOT sturdy.I would have returned this item as it didn’t meet expectations; however it was under $10 so wasn’t worth my time and the hassle to return.I would NOT buy this item again nor recommend it to anyone.

This product is exceptionally low quality and NOT SAFE FOR FOOD USE. 1) The 'Food grade coating' is unevenly applied and ours arrived in the package with chips and scratches out of it. 2) The die cast aluminum base was never deburred (the process by which excess medal from the seems of the die is cleanly removed prior to finishing a product). This resulted slivers of partially coated metal that are loosely attached to the base to come into uneven contact with the slicing wires. The first few times I opened and closed the slicing wires metal shards were dislodged from the base and flung outward.In the picture attached you can see one of the shards I was able to recover. You can also see the uneven burred edges on the base of which I spoke. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

We have been using the same egg slicer for about 20 years when a employee broke the base. I purchased what I thought would be a quality replacement. The wires are very thick so it is hard to get thru a egg cleanly. We have been using this one for about 3 months and because it is so hard to get thru a egg the wires are already beginning to bend.

I really do think this product is well built - it's sturdy and solid, but I wish I could replace the wires. The wires definitely do not cut cleanly. Every time I use this product with hard boiled eggs, it shreds them and it's a mess. I'll keep using it until I can find a better product, but I'm disappointed.

This thing is terrible at slicing hard boiled eggs. The wire is either dull or too thick to do the job. The egg flattens instead of slices. When it flattens the egg it damages the yolk inside before finally cutting the egg white. I make a lot of hard boiled eggs and have NEVER had this happen before, even with the cheap slicer I was using for the last 6 or 7 years. The wire on that one finally broke and I had to replace it. Can I still return this one?

Just got it a couple of days ago so haven't had a chance to try all the things advertised but the heft and strength of this utensil will take on any reasonable item. Eggs, of course, are easy but it handled mushrooms with no trouble. I spent more than I usually would for an egg slicer.......??? Maybe that's why I was always buying cheap egg slicers?

I have waited awhile before paying for than a few bucks for a slicer like this. I eat salads daily, and eat boiled eggs in my salad. So, I slice eggs daily. Before I was using a very cheap Walmart brand slicer. This is so much nicer. Eggs slice perfectly with smaller slice size. Also have sliced strawberries with it. Very impressed.

Isn't it wonderful when a product meets and or exceeds your expectations? Sometimes the simplest kitchen gadget becomes one of the most important utensils in a cooks bag of tricks and an egg slicer is exactly that. When you need it you have to have it. After trying the name brand units in the local stores we were very excited to find this slicer. Rather than lasting a few months we anticipate this one lasting years. So well made and very easy to clean it is a kitchen must. Thank you ChefsGrade for a product well made.
