North American F-108 Rapier Paperback – April 7, 2014

If You're Really Interested in Cold War-era aircraft that never made it into production, this is NOT the book for you. As a serious affictionado of the fascinating story of the Cold War Era and the amazing military aircraft it produced, I have large library of books on this topic. The F-108 never made it past the mock-up stage, i.e., it never actually flew before being cancelled by the U.S. government. This book contains a handful of b&w only shots of the mock-up. For a far superior account of this what-might-have-been plane, see the far superior "Project Terminated: Famous Military Cancellations of the Cold War," by Erik Simonsen, published in 2013 (Crecy Publishing, Ltd) and complete with color renderings of how the F-108 might have looked had it entered service.

Status sheets on back for Performance values are to little to read with out a magnifying glass!!! Book other needs more substance o finformation.

To the best of my knowledge this is the only monograph covering the F-108 available. Probably this authors best effort. Poor graphic reproduction.

How can you write a book from the information in a wikipedia entry?

Well-done and researched--excellent read for those interested in Cold War projects--would've been very expensive; and probably outdone by missiles.

Surprisingly little new information, and only a handful of photos and art work. About 1/3 of all the pictures are just a red X.......was this book even finished? Good luck.....

Bit thin on pages and material. Not much material for the stout price. Graphics need to be cleaned up.

Great story of a plane that wasn't made due to budgetary concerns of the late 50's and 60's as mission and technology changed.
