This is a very good hi-pitch voluum classic cushioned mounth grip blowing whistle. Unlike the traditional old style whistles,this Fox -40 classic CMG comes without any moving parts and fearther lightweight. I tested this Fox-40 with a sudden blow hard on it to create a loud whistle and it works out flawlessly producing hi pitch loud whistling sounds with each time of my suddently blowing and keep it blowing until it out of my breath in which in sometimes would jam when I do this with my traditional moving parts whistles. Besides the above pro the con of this classic whistle is it sounds very loud with a hi-pich tone pears through your ears with quite uncomfortable. Not a deafeningly loud like some reviewers described because this Canadian made whistle does not have any moving parts inner belly to move around circlely  to create loud noises when your blowing air passes through. On the other hands,the Fox-40(no moving parts) has only a small one part only whistle with a super thin and flat belly with two very small air-channels on the rear of the mouth piece to let the air passes through and a little hole undeneath behind it to let the small amount of air to escapes to create the hi-pitch sound and this kind of noise sometimes hurting my ears and I seldom use this whistle because it's bother the enimals and it scares the sh**t out of my lovely cat. You may use this whistle effectively in a less noisy places such as in the school playrounds with some white noises but it's useless in an instruction zone with some heavy construction noises. In some situations cry out for help ! if you want your voice loud to be heard ! The red whistle named "Storm" is the world's loudest moving parts Loudest sound whistle,and it's really deafening your ears when it is blown. I purchased that little noisy monster 37 years ago (1982)by mail ordered from a big hunting store(A Big Five Sports) from Missouri and this Storm whistle was considering the World's loudest blowing whistle at that time and I bought it because of that advertisement. The storm whistle was made of special hard broke ABS hard plastic material which its special designed it can be blowing in any rough coondition plus under the ocean in the the storms and i can not go very details about that Storming whistle because the review is not for it.  Now we can g back to the Fox-40 review. The Fox-40 is simply the very good life gard rescue classic whistle,but not the best super loud although it can be working flawlessly under water. Everything Pros out of this whistle and the only one thing Con is it is not loud enough if there is a storm coming in an Ocean,this whistle might not be heard and your rescuers can not be reached.

Learned about this whistle during a survival course. Worth having. Remember to learn the SOS tones!
