Yes...... these shoes are horribleShoes have a bubble in the sole, which is aggravating when walking. It feels like my sock is bundled up in the shoe.Amazon says call NB, NB says call Amazon, so the customer gets suck with a defective shoe. I was hoping I’d like the 990v5, but do yourself a favor and buy Brooks. $175 is a lot of money too spend and be unhappy.Buy Brooks......... I bought the 990V5 (V5) to replace my 990V4 (V4). I really liked the V4, but I love the V5! The V5 is my new favorite work out shoe, and I currently use a few different brands.I use my V5's for walking outdoors, treadmill walking and running, and for using an elliptical. I do not use the V5's for running outdoors on hard streets or sidewalks. When I walk indoors or out, it's usually 4 to 5 miles. I spend 45 minutes to an hour on the elliptical. I am not that knowledgeable about the technical aspects of shoes, but I know what feels good to me. Also, I haven't worn these to work or any events that require a lot of standing, so i can't comment how these feel for standing on your feet for great lengths of time.The V5's fit very comfortably for me; they are snug, but not too snug as to be tight. Good room in the toe box and heel, but they don't slip around on my feet.The soles are also very comfortable - great, thick feeling cushion that feel solid while nicely absorbing the impact of my feet.The uppers are solid and strong, but still offer good flexibility.For walking outdoors or on a treadmill, the V5's are comfortable and deliver a confidence inspiring performance.The V5's feel a little heavier than my other brands of running shoes. But, the V5's feel more solid and stable, so I don't mind if they do weigh more.For elliptical use, the V5's feel pretty good for about 30 minutes, then one of my feet go numb. This is common for me with any shoe that I wear on the elliptical. Other elliptical users I know have the same problem. So, I don't blame my foot numbness on the shoe.I bought the black V5's and they're a pretty sharp looking shoe.I feel very good about buying the 990V5's!

I have flat, narrow feet and I’m prone toward plantar fasciitis. I’be been buying NB 990 series tennis shoes for at least 20 years now because they’re the only shoes I’ve found that work for me. They’re not cheap, but I’ll gladly pay for the comfort. The shoes are pretty well made and hold up better than most tennis shoes I’ve tried. The only complaint I have with them (and it’s a BIG one) is that if you wash them they start to smell pretty bad. There’s something with the adhesives they use, or something else, but it just gets worse and worse until almost ruins the shoes. Every pair I’ve had has had the same problem, and I’ve had, probably 9-10+ pairs, has had the same problem. None of my other shoes smell badly, so there’s got to be something with New Balance. I’ve read several other reviews reporting the same issue. At any rate, I’ll keep buying them. When they get too gross to be in the house I leave ‘em out in the garage and use ‘em for mowing the grass.

So far the only ones I found that fit well after several foot surgeries. After many others first, I tired on the v4 of this model at the PX and they were almost the right size but could have stood being a size wider; sad because they were a screaming deal. I look on here and that version was getting horrible ratings though, so I bought 1700v1's and those actually were horrible, sent 'em right back. So I looked up more walking shoes and between the time it took to order and return the 1700's, Amazon was listing these new v5's and the handful of reviews were promising, saying they were better than the v4's. That's hard for me to to tell, but it does seem these are made a little better --and they damn well ought to be given the price-- because these cost as much as the top of the line running shoes they made 20 years ago when I was a runner, shoes I couldn't afford then. But with all the surgeries I've had and problems I've had finding shoes that not only fit but are comfortable, I gotta say I scored with these. There's room for my thick custom insoles and still enough room for my feet to lace up comfortably. So far I like 'em and can't complain and they even look nice. Certainly way better than those 1700's for sure.

First of all these are not "sneakers" and the above description of these shoes by Amazon is idiotic and devoid of useful information.I have the various iterations of this shoe for the last 20 years along with a smattering of other running shoes. These are the finest iteration yet and a great running shoe that combines support, cushioning and flexible sole. In summmary if you need support in your running shoes these are spectacular and just feel great while running. I highly recommend them.

I had high hopes for these shoes after seeing online reviews. However, I am utterly disappointed. I must be missing something here, because these shoes are average at best. For such a premium price, I expected this shoe to be comparable, if not better, than shoes like the Adidas Ultraboost, or Nike Epic React. I'm not even comparing the design; I'm solely comparing the comfortability.These shoes aren't terrible, but I wouldn't pay more than $100 for these shoes. There's just so many better options out there for the same price or cheaper. I guess you could buy these shoes to support patriotism, but they are really not worth it.

Hard to find decent wide trainers but New Balance are the best

I ordered the M990 v5 complete black , but received the black/silver grey or M990BK5. Didn't see that the order actually changed during the confirmation. The seller didn't seem to care but Amazon did.On the product side, didn't really try them. Just one foot and it fits perfectly, didn't need to go down half a size. I have slim feet of size 44. Took size 44, category D. Seemed perfect.

Excellent replacement for a pair of much loved and worn out v4 990’s. Comfortable, supportive, good looking.
