Great value, timeless design
The Seiko 5 is, I believe, one of those watches that should be in any watch enthusiasts collection. These sell for about what you would pay for some run of the mill Timex, but offer a "proper" watch with a 21 jewel automatic movement - something with springs and gears, a wonder of micro machinery. A watch with a heart, not just some plastic gizmo. So far, it has kept good time for a non-certified movement. I will report back if/when I see a degradation in its accuracy (mine is getting 24/7 wear for a while to test this.)The bracelet has hollow links and end links, so it rattles a bit compared to solid link offerings, but again compared to other watches in its price class the bracelet is actually pretty nice. It is tough to fault this if you factor value - keep in mind what other watches feel like that sell in this price class....Water resistance: probably the weak point on this model for me, I like a little more water resistance so I don't have to remember to take it off to swim. The clear case back is marked as "water resistant" with no depth. From Seiko's website: If "WATER RESISTANT" is inscribed on the case back, your watch is designed and manufactured to withstand up to 3 bar, such as accidental contact with splashes of water or rain, but it is not designed for wearing while swimming or diving.some other small plusses: Yes, the watch does have a clear caseback so you can view its parts ticking away inside. Yes the day wheel has other languages as well as English if you were so inclined. Yes, I found the time day and date easy to set. pull all the way out to set time, halfway back for day and date (spin one way to set day, the other to set date).Other nits to pick: The red second hand is hard to pick out against the black dial, in low light. While there is luminous paint added to the hands and markers, it doesn't glow long enough to be of any real use.Overall: As a "bottom end" automatic watch, you wouldn't expect much, but I feel this is a great watch for its price, and it feels right at home in my collection alongside timepieces that were far more expensive. A fantastic value that I would buy again with no hesitation.

Seiko 5 Automatic SNK795
Just received this watch in the mail today. The watch came in a light blue box, with a pillow inserted throughout the band for support with an instruction manual. The manual was not for the product listed but close enough that instructions could be applied to the SNK795. That being said, I read other reviews that stated that the link removal was somewhat difficult. I found it to be easy enough if you just remember to use something that has a point with some good backbone, like a small household nail or a jewelers screwdriver (both are available at almost any general store for a reasonable price.1. Insert the end of your chosen tool in the hole where the embedded arrow points to on the link, and pull back (think of a shovel being put into the ground and pulled back and up) same concept :)2. when the link begins to push out from its cradle, use a flat head pair of pliers to grip the tip and pull out. repeat this same process for the remaining links if you need more out.3. The watch keeps good time as I have worn this all night at work for ten hours straight. Automatic watches will lose or gain a minute or two in a week so this is not unusual.4. While not wearing the watch, make sure that when you lay it aside for the night, that it lays with dial face, facing up towards this ceiling. This helps the watch to maintain time while it is not being used. I do not know what kind of reserve this watch has but I know that any automatic watch left unworn for more than a day will probably stop. worn daily, this should not be a problem.5. Nice watch overall, cosmetically appealing, thin, with a good solid feel to it. not bad for the 70 something dollars I spent. I've only had it a day so if any major complications arise, I will update this review. Hope this was helpful to you. Thanks! :)

Excellent timepiece, underwhelming lume.
I got this watch two days ago. I really like it.It's simple and elegant, and it doesn't break the bank. At this price point, you're not likely to see too many watches (other than other Seiko 5s) with a display back. It's keeping excellent time so far, and it looks sharp whether you're wearing a dress shirt or a t-shirt.There's only one negative I can think of: It's got very weak lume. I have to be in pretty much pitch darkness to see the hands glow.Another thing that may or may not matter to you: The day/date complication is a bit hard to see with white text on a black background. I would have preferred black text on a white background. But I wear glasses to read, so your mileage may vary.

Beautiful time piece and a great value
Watch arrived on time earlier this week in good condition in a sturdy box. It is a beautiful time piece. The dial is elegant and the red second hand adds a pleasant color contrast. The day date display is white print on black background which goes well with the black dial. The stock bracelet it came with works great for me as I was able to resize it to fit and it looks and feels great on the wrist. Accuracy so far is good( to me) for this type of watch running maybe a little fast estimated gaining between 10 to20 seconds per day. It is a great watch to wear to the office or out to eat or even special occasions like weddings. I would not recommend wearing it swimming or anywhere it would be submerged. It does seem to need a lot of daily movement to stay wound up but that is how it is designed. Periodically moving your arm back and forth many times each day should keep it wound. Overall a I am very pleased with this value packed watch and I hope to have it in my collection running well for may years to come.
