Orville, The: Season 2

A very brief series but quite enjoyable
Only lasted 3 years with 10 episoded per season. A knock off on star trek but still very enjoyable characters and some of the best special effects for a sci fi series. I enjoyed every single episode hopefully its final season will be released on dvd

Ooooohhhh, another space exploration series!
I truly do like the series The Orville, great cast enjoyed the first part of season 1But then my schedule changed and I missed the rest of the season then they took it off the channel that it was on and never saw it again. Then bought the Season 1&2 dvds and am ordering season 3,

Love this!
Given the cast, I expected this to be a spoof and ordered it as much out of loyalty to two of the primary actresses in it. It's so much better than that.Very much a throwback to Star Trek, with the brightness of the original set of Star Trek series, and appropriate punches of humor. There are a few episodes where I'm almost embarassed to be human. From the 1st season:- a guy gets to blow off his XO, make a scene that wouldn't be appropriate anywhere let alone while supposedly undercover, and then - after they save him from the locals - goes unchallenged and uncorrected at the time and afterward for mouthing off to those locals. He's never tasked on any of those fronts.(In another episode, he actually ends up promoted despite no signs he's ever recognized any wrongdoing.)- they manage to set up a scenario that echoes back to the very beginning and continuing storyline, where instead of cheating on a spouse and ending up divorced (to someone on the crew) a high-ranking officer was actually under the influence of an alien's (unwitting) hormonal control; there's some cheese-tastic over-the-top humor (which I can appreciate) but they never in any way address the fact that one spouse ends up in basically the same position the cheater did (same reason, same actual alien), and there's never any mention whatever about the fact that every other species is susceptible and what this might be doing to either individuals who find themselves under thrall or their families.Partway through the 2nd season, there are similar issues. For a show that isn't afraid of tough topics, that isn't afraid of well-placed humor but that doesn't rely on it and isn't entirely about slapstick humor, some of the lacks on that front... they just stick out even more.On the other hand, for people who only splash in puddles, 100% great instead of only 80% great, and I liked the first season well enough to get the second.Super pleased they were able to get the first off the ground, and totally pumped about a 2nd season - so great, and despite the little niggles that will make some of us crazy every few/handful of episodes, I think it's EXACTLY WHAT'S MISSING FROM TV RIGHT NOW!Super great.

The Best Star Trek Show in 25 years - and it's not a Star Trek show!
The Orville started off as a Sci-Fi comedy. It took Star Trek: The Next Generation and added Seth MacFarlane's sense of humor. Over time, the show focused less on humor and more on light drama in a Science Fiction setting. The comedy was still there, but it wasn't as broad, and it wasn't quite as over the top. The stories were really, really good, the characters were engaging, and the cast was outstanding.Season 2 saw the show improving in almost all facets. Better stories, better writing, better drama - it just got better all around. And it was just a lot of fun to watch. The Orville is a wildly entertaining show. The Season 2 DVD looks great. No, it doesn't have the same picture quality as blu ray, but it is a well mastered DVD set with very clean picture quality. Yes, a blu ray release would be nice, but the DVD set is very well done and is most certainly worth purchasing.Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation who have a good sense of humor will love this show. Hell, they DO love this show! This is what Trek fans had waited for since DS9 went off the air. If you're on the fence, the price is right. Try it out - it's a wildly entertaining show.

Underrated
Well made and fearlessly takes on how humans actually will be when space fairing.

Muy divertida
Es Star Trek con el humor de Seth MacFarlane, y él es el capitán. La producción es muy buena y los actores también.

LOve this show, happy there is a season 3 coming.
I feel like downvoting it because there is no Bluray release. However, I have a feeling once the show ends they will release a Bluray set to milk us for more money... I don't like Fox at all... they cancelled Firefly and other shows in the past I like. I hate giving them any money at all, but, the show is AWESOME! And I want to support it as much as possible. This show is really well done. A nice mix of comedy, great stories, and character development.I like it better than Discovery because it brings me more joy when I watch it. I do like Discovery but this is better in my opinion.I love the characters in this show. I do miss the cute security officer, the new cute security officer is also nice, but I really liked Alara as did a couple of my friends who I introduced into the show. My friend Sarah said Alara was her favorite character in the show and I would agree. She was great in the show.
