Sutro's Glass Palace: The Story of Sutro Baths

I have been fascinated by the ruins at the Sutro Baths for years. This book is just remarkable with its pictures and its history of the site. It just brings history to life.

My sisters and I grew up in San Francisco. We learned to swim and ice skate at Sutro Baths. Unfortunately, I witnessed the fire that destroyed the building. My sisters were very pleased to receive such an excellent depiction of an important part of our childhood.

This is one of the best history books I have ever read. Seriously, I couldn't put it down. . .and yes it is a real (non-fiction) history book of the Sutro family and his Baths. The story is just fascinating and the pictures and descriptions of the Sutro Baths were just amazing. This is a must read if you are interested in history, especially if you live or visit the San Francisco Bay Area. If you are planning a visit to the Sutro Baths National Park buy this book (they also sell it at the NPS visitor Center) and take it will you- it explains everything you are seeing when you visit the ruins.
