USB/AC Power Kit

It’s a nice plug for my light and extra cord for length is great!

I’m glad I bought this, but wish it plugged in somewhere that doesn’t make the cord press up against my chin and mouth while in use.

I have had the Beam n Read for about a year and find it an absolute necessity for needlework. I have tried several other lighting options over the years, some of which were terrible, most of which were only so-so. The Beam n Read is wonderful - bright light, hands-free, adjustable neck strap. The only problem is that when the batteries start to go, the light goes from nice and bright to "why do my eyes hurt?" very quickly. This product completely eliminates that problem. With the six foot extension cable, you don't even have to worry about sitting right next to a power outlet to use it comfortably. I still keep an extra set of batteries in my stitching kit, but with this addition to my Beam n Read, it will be a long time before I need them. If you like to stitch, you really should invest in these products. And no, I did not receive a discount or anything for free as incentive to write this review - just a highly satisfied customer here.

I'm delighted with this tool. Because I generally use it while watching TV - not moving away from an electric outlet - it suits my needs perfectly. The light is very bright, which my old eyes appreciate!

The cord gives the light a longer use because don't depend on the batteries for the light. Easy to use. Great price & fast shipping.

Was very hopeful that this was the answer to my "book light" problem. I've had two or three of the clip-on types and found them awkward - especially on a paperback book - and not bright enough. The clip-on type also "eat batteries." I had to add a line item for batteries in my monthly budget! So I was excited to find a light that was "portable, had batteries for traveling or when reading outside, etc., but was not totally dependent on batteries. The Beam n Read itself was O.K. - might work better for others that don't find the strap kind of irritating. It's a good option as a portable light for reading, knitting, etc. However, it was the USB power kit that "closed the sale" for me. Can still use batteries when needed, but the power cable makes it much more flexible. Theoretically this should be an awesome light. But it isn't. Either mine is a "lemon'" or there is a structural problem with the unit. . . .specifically the end of the Cale that plugs into the lamp keeps falling out. It kind of "clicks" in, but if falls out again within a minute or two. I don't want to keep a battery-only book light (I can't afford the battery bill!), so I'm planning to return both the light and the USB power kit. . . . .a nuisance. This is the only book light I've seen with a plug-in option, so I'm very disappointed that my need for a travel reading light was not solved.
