Musical Instruments Coloring Book (Dover Kids Coloring Books)

This is an excellent coloring book. I use it to teach an intimate knowledge of the instruments of the orchestra and the orchestra families. Once children have heard the instrument (on a recording) while coloring these pictures they have a realistic an accurate knowledge of the instrument. Granted, these are only drawings, but my students really know their instruments after they spend some time coloring them. It's really nice that they are being played in the illustrations....and the players depict a diverse group of musicians. I have two copies in case one is misplaced. They are the best illustrations of this kind I have found.

I am going to use this book for my 2nd grade daughter's home school music curriculum and I think this is a great book for that. It has information at the bottom of each coloring page about the instrument. Great pictures too!

The best thing about this coloring book is that it can be used at many different levels and for different ages. While descriptions of the instruments may be a bit obtuse for younger children, the drawings are clear and the players are multi-ethnic. One surprise was the depiction and description of what I would consider fairly obscure instruments -- the mellophone, for example, while the ukulele was missing. This is just an observation, not a complaint!

The kids love these & they help them learn the names of the instruments. They're also wonderful for little kids to take home & show their parents or to put up on bulletin boards. I let them get creative & add special touches like grass,trees,birds,blue sky,etc

I bought this as a gift for my nephew. He has learning problems and is crazy about music and instruments. He is 4 and loved the color book. He was able to name all of the instruments and coloring helps with his small muscle control. The pictures are detailed and it makes a good picture book even without the coloring.

i bought this for my 2 1/2year old daughter who loves musical instruments. She would happily sit through my reading of this book at least 2-3 times in a row. i only read one or two of the descriptions at a time (mostly because I don't find it very interesting myself.) She also has found coloring it to be fun. DD already knew the names of her instruments before getting this book, however, the added descriptions of each instrument are informative and interesting (at least to my daughter). I'm sure this book would be a great complement for any child learning about different instruments.

This is a lovely book to use at home or school when wanting to introduce children/ young people with the verity of instruments. Children enjoy talking about the pictures. The pictures are really clear and so it is easy to explain the different colours which different instruments which have. Would certainly recommend this to parents, teachers, clubs.

livret anglophone agrafé souple grand format ancien (1995) présentant 44 instruments de musique (accompagnés d'un personnage qui en joue) en n&b prêts à être coloriés; chaque instrument est représenté sur une page, exceptionnellement une double page pour l'orchestre entier; deux images en couleur servant de modèles sont sur les pages de garde; ce livre de coloriage non exhaustif mais bien fait et sérieux sera parfait pour l'initiation à la musique d'enfants de plus de sept ans suffisamment soigneux et patients pour s'appliquer; je dois reconnaître avoir été favorablement surpris par la qualité de cette publication, ayant été échaudé par plusieurs tentatives précédentes, et je dois dire que j'ai enfin trouvé ce que je cherchais et j'envisage d'acquérir d'autres ouvrages de la même série (taper sur le moteur de recherche d'Amazon: Dover coloring book); je pense qu'il vaut mieux préférer les ouvrages neufs même s'ils sont légèrement plus chers pour éviter le risque de se retrouver avec un exemplaire crayonné!
