Best fitness related purchase ever!
Short version first: the Zephyr HxM heart rate monitor, coupled with SportsTrackLive's SportsTracker Pro, is the best fitness related purchase I have ever made. The HxM reports accurate data, has good range, and is very comfortable. Zero problems whatsoever!Long version: I wanted a heart rate monitor, to keep track of my heart rate during exercise (running, weightlifting, etc.). I needed a HRM that was compatible with my Android device, an LG G2, running Android 4.2.2. Needless to say, HRM compatibility with Android devices and apps is nowhere near as clean cut as it is with iOS...I blame Google for that. After doing my research, I determined early on that the Zephyr HxM would fit my needs; the only drawback was the price. I searched some more, but came back to the Zephyr, because guaranteed compatibility is worth the extra money. The HxM was not only compatible with my phone, but was compatible with several well-known Android apps. I finally purchased the HxM, and purchased SportsTrackLive's SportsTracker Pro. I ordered it on a Sunday for second day delivery, but Amazon shipped overnight, to avoid local snowstorms (yay Amazon!!!).I played around with the HxM the first day, testing range, and just goofing off to get measurements, it seemed to do just fine with that limited test. It paired immediately with my phone, and was recognized with the apps I tested it with (Endomondo and SportsTracker Pro). The strap began transmitting immediately, I didn't have to wet the strap or use any type of moisture. My plan was to put it through a full battery of tests to see if it worked. The next day, I went on a 4 mile hike to the grocery store, through snow and ice. The Zephyr performed quite well, reporting my heart rate accurately. I tested it several times after that, during a home workout, and the gym, and running at the track. The HxM held up well, with no issues that I could see.The battery life seems to be exceptional; with the apps I used reporting a nearly full battery on each use. As stated in other reviews, remember to disconnect the transmitter from the strap after each use, and the battery will probably last as long as claimed. The recharging dock is very small, and charges via USB. Unfortunately, the USB cord connected to the dock is very short, and non-replaceable, so you'll likely be charging it connected to your PC. There's no USB to AC adapter included, so you'll need to provide your own. These are minor inconveniences (I think), since the rechargeable battery stops you from having to keep a stockpile of CR2032's.The transmitter is relatively small, and snaps in place securely on the strap. Under a t-shirt, you can barely tell it's there. The strap looks much different than the product pictures, and looks to be the same as the Zephyr replacement straps sold separately on Amazon. Regardless, once adjusted, the strap stayed in place, was very comfortable (45" chest), and seems like it will hold up fairly well to extended use. Time will tell, of course. But the HxM is really just a way of getting to what's really important...the data! Coupled with the right app, you will have all the data you need to make the most of your workout. Seeing your heart rate real time, knowing what "zones" your heart rate is in, changes the way you run, lift, walk, everything. That data also helps calculate calories burned more accurately. Being able to quantify how hard you're working, with real data, goes beyond just "feeling" like you had a great workout.Check [...] for app compatibility, I'm sure your favorite will be there (Note: RunKeeper isn't compatible with the HxM on Android yet). If you aren't committed to an app yet, you really should check out SportsTrackLive's SportsTracker Pro [...] , it's incredible. If you have an Android device, regardless of what brand or OS release, this is the HRM you want, look no further. Five stars.

So much better than Polar for bluetooth reception
I was having a lot of reception issues with my Polar heart rate monitor. I was about to give up on the whole Bluetooth concept with an HRM, but gave the Zephyr a try since it had some positive reviews here on Amazon. I'm really glad I did! After three weeks of use for backpacking in Acadia National Park, several hundred miles of cycling, and a fair amount of running, it's performed better than I could have hoped. It is extremely accurate (I am very adept at doing manual heart-rate counts), has tremendous range (and has a nice long 20hr life. As others have mentioned, you have to charge it with a USB connection into a notebook or PC, but that's not an issue for me. If it's a problem for you, get a really cheap adapter. My phone came with one, and I have a ton more of them from other devices I've owned in the past. The main issue I had with my Polar is that while cycling, I got terrible reception to my HTC Sensation when keeping the phone anywhere but directly in front of my body. Bluetooth is pretty infamous for having a terrible time broadcasting through the human body, and so I had basically assumed that Bluetooth would never work for the application I needed for most: cycling. I tried this one out, and was very surprised at how well it worked. Just how good? I had my friend carry my phone on a ride, and it never lost connection as we road over 20 miles on a trail--the whole time we were fairly close together, but at times were at least 10-15 feet apart with the phone in his bike's rear carrier. That really impressed me. I've worn this riding home in the rain and never lost connection--again something my Polaris struggled with. This is the best heart rate monitor I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few the last 5 years. It's the only one that Bluetooth works properly on in my opinion. It's worth spending a bit more for this unit vs. the Polar for that very reason.I use the Zephyr literally everyday with Endomondo fitness tracker (look me up if you use Endomondo--I use my real name there too) and it's been flawless. As an aside, I've tried most of the fitness trainers like Cardio Tracker and iMapMyRun and Endomondo beats them hands down, at least with my phone. Highly recommend this HRM and Endomondo both.Feel free to ask questions in the comments--I'll do my best to answer them.*****Update*****After a month and a half of use (on a nearly daily basis), I am still extremely impressed with the Zephyr. It just works. However, I did want to note that when I housed it in my 100oz Camelbak, it lost connection with the chest strap. Since bluetooth doesn't transmit well through water, I guess I could have predicted that it would have problems. So if you plan to use the Zephyr, keep in mind it won't broadcast through your Camelbak & your body both.

Seamless integration with htc one and strava
As above, works perfectly. Have occasionally had a spurious hr peak but overall I'm extremely happy. Battery life is good and auto connects to phone (htc one) flawlessly. I'm using it with strava and no problem there either.

Windows Phone 8.1

Works fine no issues
The belt and HR unit synced easily with my Samsung S3 and worked straight away. I bought this HR monitor especially to compliment Strava and it is fine. HAving used it for a while i have noticed it can take a few seconds to detect a heartbeat but that is not a major deal
