The best MMA style bag gloves for a woman
I've used many different bag gloves in the course of my years doing martial arts and bag-work. These gloves are the best. In fact, I love them so much I suggested them to my heavy bag kickboxing gym, and now they sell them (and people are loving them). Ah, I wistfully think of all the unpaid promotion Harbinger is getting from me.Here's what's great about them:1. No smell. A year in.2. They protect your fingers all the way to the 1st knuckle. This *is* a big deal. It's really easy to chafe and open the skin up on your knuckles hitting the bag.3. Lightweight - one day I forgot my gloves and had to use the giant boxing bag gloves at the gym. Wow did I notice a difference.4. Allows the development of good punching form. Although the grip bar feels odd at first, it really develops a tight fist, and the minimalism of the gloves (as compared with the large bag gloves) encourages actual fist form and proper impact, and yet they are padded enough that they are forgiving while you are learning or if you accidentally misstep.5. Wrist wrap provides wrist support6. You don't need any other gloves or paraphernalia. Gone are the time-consuming days of needing to wrap your hands first, or use wimpy "wrap" gloves inside big bag gloves. Don't get me wrong, wrapping your hands makes you feel like a bad ass, I know. But it's really not that functional for a gym workout.7. They fit a women's hand perfectly. I have relatively small hands and use a small. They fit. When I did the measurements they suggest, I was just on the border of small and medium, but I'm glad I went for the small. They are also a pretty but not overly girly color. That's it for now. These days I use them mostly for heavy bag and mitt workouts, and they're great for that.

now they fit almost perfectly and are great for heavy bag work
At first I had a hard time adjusting to the fit of these gloves, they were very stiff. They felt a bit tight on the top of my hands and were a little loose at the fingers, causing the material to pull at the webbing between my fingers which hurt and would leave small blood clots. After using them my hands would look dark and red. It took about 2 weeks or more to break them in, now they fit almost perfectly and are great for heavy bag work. They have a good amount of flexibility now that they have adjusted to being worn. The padding extends further down the fingers adding extra knuckle protection, and they stays in place as you hit. I feel like I have more power and control with these gloves since the padding is individually sewn for each finger and knuckle. The wrist wraps are an added bonus, they offer a fair amount of support and I find that I've been having less flare-ups with my carpal tunnel since wearing them. I was originally searching for a thumb-less glove and thought I was settling with these. I'm glad I got them, the thumb fabric is so light I don't even notice it. My suggestion to those thinking about returning them, give them a couple of weeks until they soften up because it makes a huge difference.

They fit, they protect, they are awesome.
Would I recommend buying these? Yes.PROS:* Solidly constructed* Comfortable* Can be adjusted to fit almost any size wrists/hands.* Protects your knuckles and fingers* Excellent for bag/bob workCONS:...? Are there any?I've been using these gloves for over a year for MMA-based fitness classes, which include striking punching bags and bobs, and they are not only comfortable and fit my hands well, but they protect them, as they're supposed to, and help support my weak wrists to promote proper punching form.My initial gloves (a different brand) did not fit well, despite being advertised as one-size-fits-all for women, and led to my hands getting more injured than they needed to be, with bruising between knuckles and the gloves sliding to scrape off entire swathes of my skin. The fit of these gloves is one of the highest recommendations I can give; several of my classmates also used these gloves, and they fit everyone (of course, make sure you buy the proper size - if you have big hands, don't go for a Small!).

Abrasions and Bruises
I used these for about 15-20 minutes on a heavy bag and came away with abrasions and bruises on my knuckles and between my fingers. A couple days later, I still have scabs where my skin rubbed off. Before these I used lightweight traditional (closed) boxing gloves and the most I got with those were a little bruising if I went extra hard. These Harbingers seem well made, but aren't comfortable; my first thought was "Wow, these are going to take some breaking in" but I can't handle the pain of breaking them in.A note on size: Like the other reviews say, these seem to run small. I always thought my hands were on the small side and the large fit me pretty well.

Begginers or light punching only
The gloves appear to be nicely made, however I have a few issues. The size is very accurate, if you are planning on using anything with these gloves order a size up. Nothing but my hand could squeeze in and I measured in the mid range of the size.. The reason I bought the gloves was that I was beginning to hit hard and needed more than the wrap. However the gloves are about as good as the wrap with no room to add the wrap. After 10 minutes, 5 each of straight jabs and upper cuts, my knuckles were raw and my pinkie knuckle's skin was cracked. The skin between my middle knuckle and ring finger knuckle had a burn. So, if you hit hard, move on. .I believe part of the problem is the lining. . The material is a bit grainy and the seams and joints are not covered or padded on the inside.I could not complete my workout which would have added another 15 minutes to the pounding my knuckles took.FYI I took lessons 18 years ago but have only recently gotten back after 16 years off. So, about 6 months in the garage with a 75lb bag.I bought the women's large. . Hands measured 7 3/4" around the knuckles.
