Jon Klassen's Hat Box (The Hat Trilogy) Hardcover – Picture Book, October 8, 2019

Saw "I Miss My Hat" on a social media post and had to buy the set. My children giggle so hard at the stories I can hardly be heard reading them! "This Is Not My Hat" has the unique perspective of the story being told, and the story being seen in the pictures, which makes it my personal favorite. "We Found A Hat" still has the wit, but ends on a very sweet note, and makes for a good bedtime story

I found out about this series by randomly chatting with a retired librarian I happened to sit next to while out having breakfast one Saturday. She said they were some of her favorite books to read her students and couldn’t speak more highly of the author and the pictures. She and I were still chatting when I proceeded to purchase these for my 2.5 year old nephew who finds joy in “reading.” My sister said they read all three the same evening the books arrived, and found the series to be very cute with a vintage feel. Highly recommended.

Went on vacation this fall with family and my brother in law had brought some books with them for my niece. He read “I want my hat back” to my four year old and he absolutely loved it, thought it was the funniest book ever. By the end of our trip my son had memorized every word and would “read” it to us. My brother in law had no idea it there were additional books so I ordered a set for my niece and a set for my son. They are all three fantastic. Some of our favorite bed time reads.

1. The box is awesome. Bulks up the gift, protects the books, makes it seem more special.2. Everyone around became involved in reading these books because of how clever they are and how they invoke reactions.3. I’m a bachelor uncle and this was a perfect gift for my 3-year old niece. She can’t read yet but memorizes the books. These seem perfect for that age because the vocabulary is simple, the phrases are short, and the visuals are incredible.

My kids and myself loved all 3 of these! I did a dramatic reading of these and we died laughing!! Highly recommend!

This fantastic little collection of books is a wicked delight for both young and old readers. While the older reader will enjoy the tongue in cheek style of the author, young kids will enjoy the consequences of poor choice of action as demonstrated by some of the characters in the books. While not giving away any of the plot points, these are definitely books that have more realism in them and a touch of dark humor kids will definitely understand and parents will most likely grin and love.
