Titan 15040 Door Spring Tool

Cheap Metal. Cheap product
Let me say that the first tool I purchased and used did do the job, but badly. When using this to compress the door spring for installation the unit BENT.For someone new to this tool let me explain it first. You place the spring at the split wedged end. Then tighten the bolt in the middle, compressing the spring enough to get it into the space between the door and the door frame. When I tightened it the spring did compress a little, but just as I started to tighten the bolt it started to bend between the spring and the bolt. Now, after bending it back with a hammer and some heavy pliers I did ultimately get it to work for me. But again, it bent.I've used another version of this same product from different manufactures, and never had this problem. My recommendation is to spend a little more for a better product.(DON'T USE A PRYBAR AND A SCREW DRIVER. its how you end up with a black eye when the spring pop out and hits you in the face. Get one of these... Just not this one.)

I sure wish I would have read these reviews!!!
I too bought this tool to replace the door hinge pins on an S-10 Blazer. Either the door springs on Blazers are 3 times heavier than other GM door springs, or this tool (made out of aluminum foil) is woefully incapable of compressing a marshmallow. Total crap that nearly killed me with flying springs during the three hours I tried to replace 1 door spring. The spring is now laying somewhere in my garage and the tool is somewhere in the creek behind my house. Save your sanity and spend $3 extra for a real tool. Amazon needs to stop selling this type of crap.

Too Bulky...
I bought this TITAN to replace an older one I lost. In comparison, the TITAN is much bulkier, yet flimsier. Another problem with the TITAN is the "travel" is too short. It won't open enough to grab the ends of the spring, but if you grab 1 coil in, the TITAN will not compress the spring enough to fit in the door opening. After about an hour of frustration, I finally got the TITAN to compress the spring enough.2 stars for its price and availability, but I'll try another brand the next time.

Yes !!
This worked like a dream, door closes great, much cheaper than anything else around here that we could have picked up.

Worked fine for me
Used on a door spring from a 94 Chevy K1500. All I can say is that it worked as it should and made doing the work I needed to do a lot easier. When I used it I did lubricate the bolt/nut/washer, plus it is a little tricky to tighten/loosen the tool while in the door jamb. Also might take you a try or two extra to get enough spring to compress to remove it? Just my 2 cents, but I liked it and would buy it again.

Kind-a Works
Tool is great for putting the springs back on, not so great for taking them off. I tried several times to take off the spring with this but it kept slipping off. Finally I just used a large screw driver and popped the spring off. However you do need this tool to put the spring back on it's almost impossible with out it.

door spring tool
product worked well, i first tried the zip tie and vise method found online, however gave up after about 2 hours, received this tool and spring was in about five minutes, great for occasional usage but would opt for a more heavy duty tool for more use. didn't use to take spring out, large screw driver is much faster.

poor quality tool
I bought this to install the door spring on a Chevy S10. It appeared to be new in the package and I think it was a new tool. The first time I tried to compress the door spring the tool just bent; brand new 20$ door stop. I was not happy with it and my door spring is still not installed.
