Catwoman 1: The Game

Good Kitty
All I can say is I absolutely love this comic book. The story is incredible and keeps your attention the entire time, between Catwoman and Batman's (sexual) relationship, to her not-so-secret job as a cat burglar, and of course the villains she comes across along the way. Judd Winick knows how to write a good story and considering Ms. Kyle is my favorite heroine of all time, he does this kitty justice, which is why I bought Vol 2. Don't bother wasting your time with the volumes after that, seriously. Not to be rude, but the series turns to shit. I wish Judd would have continued writing. I know for a fact the series would have been amazing, but at least I can go back to this comic again and again. It's just that good.

This is book is an amazing jumping on point!
Wow! So I'm more of a Marvel reader, but will read DC titles if the art and characters speak to me. I've always been a Catwoman fan and didn't know where to start, so I picked up this title and it's amazing. The art is 10/10. The plot is does a great job and doesn't hold back. It's great for newer readers who can feel overwhelmed on where to start. And it's a better read than I expect. I will be reading more from this run!

A Fresh Dark Take on the Multi-Faceted Catwoman
The best Catwoman comic I've ever read. Judd Winick wrote a thoughtful and complex take on Catwoman. I've always like her character, but many portray her as a one note persona. Winick really dives into her personality, past, and playfulness with a mature and dark portrayal. He develops her world, side characters, style, and voice. Catwoman has a really distinct voice to her in this graphic novel that made it super enjoyable. I would recommend this for old fans and people new to Catwoman's character. The artwork is so lush and detailed with a particularly fashionable style I liked. I hope they continue with this sleek and polished illustrative look. I will pick up Vol. 2 of Catwoman (The New 52).

"But I shouldn't complain. I did just have sex with Batman. Again."
Catwoman's New 52 reboot starts here with the first six issues of her self-titled series starting from number one! Catwoman runs into some trouble when she steals from a gang that doesn't take too kindly to that and when innocent blood is spilled, she has to take a hard look at what she's doing before others die! Batman makes frequent visits for various reasons and Catwoman is even targeted by dirty cops and their cohort, Reach! So, what we have here is an interesting story by Judd Winick that shows a very sexualized Catwoman character that frequently gets herself into trouble; not far from the character she was pre-New 52. The first couple issues and the very revealing sex scene between her and Batman was a bit much (although could have been much more judging from the storyboard art!) and it has some moments where you're asking yourself, "how the hell!?" like when Catwoman is thrown half a mile into the air and manages to land with little more than a dislocated shoulder. The art by Guillem March is done well and the coloring by Tomeu Morey makes each page splash! Extras include textless covers (and in black and white!) along with cover sketches. Catwoman keeps getting deeper and deeper into a giant mess and she can't seem to claw herself out but that just keeps you turning pages! Overall, a pretty good comic so let's hope volume 2 does just as good!

Catwoman - She kicks butt!
I absolutely loved this. I prefer a Catwoman with skill and attitude, I like to see her imperfect and get injured (the same way I like my Batman) and this delivered. I liked her sexual affair with the Batman, they have a long history and I didn't find this to lessen her power at all. I also enjoyed the exploration of her teetering between criminal and hero. Her anti-hero status has always appealed to me. She isn't a villain and wasn't presented that way.

Awesome Noir comic action!
An excellent job showing Catwoman's survival in the mean streets of Gotham. This comic is an exciting read that made me love Catwoman even more. The artwork is beautiful, gritty, and really brings out the brutal life of Gotham City.

A Solid Start!
I must admit I absolutely hated this the first time I read it. But upon a second read I really started to like it!Winnick does an excellent job of showing her tough yet vulnerable nature and showing her thrill seeking nature. I love how much her relationship with Batman is featured. My biggest complaint is probably the sex with the masks on thing. I just didn't like it at all. It just seemed strange to me.I did however love the conflicted emotions you see between the two of them, especially Batman. You can tell he really has a weak spot for her and he hates himself for it. I enjoyed watching him try to protect her as well.I definitely liked the story and am hoping as it progresses it only gets better!

Amazing reboot of the Cat female Fatale.
My only grip with this is that Catwoman didn't get a hardcover edition that I felt she deserved. This is an amazing Reboot. Catwoman is back in her own standalone series. We get to see inside her head, and be with her during the action. She isn't just a petty thief. This is about a woman who knows what she is good at doing, and mostly ends up doing good things. I know that people have been upset about the first 2 issues in this reboot. There is a love scene(s) in it, and since this is rated T + (The R rating for comic books) its not ment for children. I personally felt that this was a good scene, it summed up her and Batman's relationship in a few panels. Remember the reboot changed the DC universe, now Vertigo titles belong in it, and the time line is all screwed up. We didn't know what her and Batman's realtionship was at. Before the New 52, her and Batman had dated several times, and she knew he was Bruce Wayne. Here we established that she doesn't know that but they do have a "thing for each other". It's interesting, fun, and not for kids. If you like Catwoman you'lll love this. If you are trying to pick up a comic/graphic novel for your child, I'd look for something else. Hope you enjoy reading it when/if you do pick it up! 5/5.-B

Catwoman and the experience of reading GNs on the Kindle Fire
Although I love my Kindle Fire I've been very hesitant about using it to read graphic novels. Frankly I shouldn't have been! The artwork in HD quality really enhances the experience. The Kindle Fire also has a facility which allows you to view the page in its entirety whilst also highlighting and bringing to the fore the pane you are reading which I thought was really clever!I'm generally drawn to Graphic Novels with strong female protagonist and was really happy when DC issued `The New 52' as a way of giving readers a start point when this is a market that seems, on occasion, to be impenetrable. You don't need any prior knowledge at all to come to this GN and enjoy it.Catwoman is a skilled burglar and minor criminal who uses a good friend to fence her stolen goods and research new opportunities for scams. In this novel we learn a little of her background but also get into the think of the action when she gets on the wrong side of a mobster known as Rock. There is also the appearance of Batman (with who she has a love/hate relationship.)The artwork is stunning, as is Catwoman who sports a beautiful pixie haircut. The story is absorbing and I can't wait to read the second volume which is already out on Kindle; one of my favourites so far.

A good read.
A short and dark tale of one of DC's most outlandish female characters. Batman sexual tension, encounters with the Russian mob and a shed load of guilt: this book was an interesting tale and very entertaining with lots of humour and apt internal monologue. The overall look of Catwoman was very sexually intriguing. A good read.

Curiosity didn't kill this Cat!
The best Catwoman story since Ed Brubaker's telling of the character. Before picking this book up, I have to admit, I was sceptical. I'd seen many reports online about the nudity and sexual nature of this book and thought to myself "Oh great.. Another great female title being sold because of it's sex appeal." So I just avoided it completely, as I'm no longer a 15 year old lad who cares for female comic character body parts. I'm more interesting in great storytelling! But as I was browsing Amazon, I saw this book at an amazing price, and couldn't say no. So I bought it, read it the day I got it and couldn't put it down. Admittedly, it's very easy to look past all of Catwoman's sexual behaviour when the storytelling is just so great. I won't go into detail about the story, as others here have already done so, but I must stress that this book is more than just a raunchy flick with Catwoman's bits hanging out here and there, it's a fantastic story with some fantastic art!Well worth the the very cheap price it's going for on Amazon at the moment!

A good effort.
I like the overall style of this book so I give it a four star rating. I like the graphics and the style of narration and the pace of the novel doesn't lag. I think this book would appeal to fans of other Catwoman stories and since Batman puts in an appearance, fans of The Dark Knight will also be interested by this new vista on their relationship. Well worth perusal.
