We bought this wonderful backpack last year for my daughter's PK year. Immediately it was a hit with my daughter and we constantly got compliments from other parents and teachers. As far as looks, I loved how eye catching and unique it was. I could spot my kid in the crowd and we never had an issue of mixed- bags. My favorite thing about the Nohoo (also lusted as icci) penguin backpack was that it was gender neutral.On the inside, the backpack is super roomy. For us it fit a folder, an insulated lunch bag Friendly Kids Insulated Reusable Lunch Bag, Blue  and the occasional stuffed animal in the large compartment. The smaller compartment (right behind the penguin's face fit smaller treasures and a change of clothes. Side stretchy pockets that could hold a small water bottle ( Klean Kanteen Kid Kanteen Bundle - 2 Items: 12 Ounce Brushed Stainless Steel Water Bottle w/ Sippy Cap & Sports Cap 3.0 in Bright Green .Our little penguin held together exceptionally through the year without any tears or rips. The only evidence of wear was some satining on the tummy, which considering all the wear and tough love it received was fairly little damage. The material is like a neoprene which gives it a bit of stretch, is resistant and yet light. The straps were soft and slightly padded so comfy on my daughter's chest. A reviewer mentioned the smell which was not a problem for us. Just in case I threw it in the washer when it arrived and let it air dry for a week prior to use.For those trying to compare, I will use the skip hop zoo series (we also own the bee and use it mainly for road trips or plane flights for a few activities and toys). Although we use our skip hope infrequently and with light loads there has been a little bit of fraying and seam stretching. Other areas where it does not measure up are the side pocket (in the skip hop it is teeny tiny and won't hold a bottle) and size (the skip hop is smaller and will not fit a folder.Overall I would recommend this and would definitely buy again. I just wish icci made other cute animals, I have checked their other options but this in my opinion is the cutest. Icci, if you are reading, how about a unicorn, a fox, a dragon? PLEASE?

I really needed a non-TV movie character backpack that was cute and tall enough for a folder. I literally searched for hours. I would find something "ok" but it would get terrible reviews. I was initially worried about the material this back pack was made. No worries now. I typically go with another brand, but this was the biggest "non-themed" bag I could find. I still had to cut down the folder to fit, but it was worth it. It is super cute, durable, and my son loved it. I even found that you could move the mouth with your hand up and down. I love this backpack, and won't hesitate to buy again.

I have to admit that this is one of the most adorable backpacks we have ever owned. The cute penguin motif is definitely eye catching and I love the dual pocket design. The construction is well done and the zippers move smoothly. The straps are adjustable and work for both my toddler and kindergartner. My biggest drawback with this product is the material. It is a very thick, scuba like material which is nice.......although it stains and shows dirt easily and no amount of washing has managed to make it look clean again. Perhaps this is just a problem due to the penguins white belly......

This is so cute and roomy! I use it for my newborn. There is enough room for a package of wipes, 5 size 1 diapers 3 size 5 diapers (for big brother), 4 small stuffed animals, and a few baby toys. My baby doesn't use bottles, but there are 2 mesh pockets (1 on each side). it will be great to use as my baby grows. I love that the front pocket is as deep as the back one. It is also super durable.

Cute, our little one takes it to daycare every day. Some reviewers reported a strong smell but this is not the case! It is Neoprene material and yes, Neoprene always has that a little tiny bit but it's really not bad at all and certainly nothing to be concerned about. Would buy it again!

Awesome - eyecatching and large enough for little shoulders. Snacks, swimming gear and a small towel fit in well. Straps are reasonably sturdy. Color stayed fast after first wash in regular cycle, turned inside out. Did not tumble dry - line dried. We're thrilled.

My son loves this! Very nice quality neoprene type fabric. It is just a little small for his school folder (he's in TK) but able to bend the folder a little to make it work.

Such a great little backpack. Quality feeling zippers and a durable material. I will say it is not trimmed with grey, its all black in those regions unlike what is depicted. This doesn't bother us though.

Bought it as a present for a toddler who had recently started nursery. The parents were thrilled and so was the child. I received it within the time expected (very fast) and was delivered in a box. The backpack is inside a plastic bag, so it was well protected. I didn't remove it from the bag as it was a present, but it looked sturdy and quite big. Just to mention that when they opened the present, there was another 7 year old around and she said it was "super cute" and she "wanted one too".

I use this as my gym bag (I'm 26) though it would be a great bag for a toddler, as I guess it's original target market was. However I love his little penguin face so much I couldn't resist and it fits everything I need for the gym (drink, snacks, small towel, mp player, wallet style purse) in with room left, though I wouldn't recommend it for a daytrip but perhaps because I'm the kind of person who needs to take the kitchen sink whenever I go anywhere that isn't local!!!

This bag is fab. It's very cute. It's made out of wetsuit material which I don't think is mentioned in the product details and the front pocket is actually a lot bigger than expected - I thought it was only eyes of the penguin down to the beak but it actually is the whole length of the bag.

Lovely bag to take to the childminders. My 20 month old son loves the bag and loves carrying it. Has been washed a couple of times and has come up well. Has also been out in a light shower and no water came through to the bag. On delivery I recommend airing the bag though as it does smell strongly. This went very quickly however.

Bought this for my wee boy starting nursery and it's brilliant - loads of space for a mini ruck-sack and really recognisable out of hundreds of pegs with bags on!
