A great waterpoof trail running shoe!
After trying five different shoes, all from different places, I've finally found a shoe that's perfect for me.OVERALL: I needed a waterproof lightweight shoe with good grip for travel and this shoe really fits the bill. I don't actually consider it a trail running shoe however. To me, it seems more in between a trail running shoe and a light hiking shoe. It's beefier than I imagined but not overly so. Its muted colors are welcomed considering all the crazy colors that are out there right now.FIT: I'm a true 8-1/2 and these shoes fit perfectly. They have removable insoles, but while I usually insert superfeet into shoes like sneakers and walking shoes, I didn't need to put them in with these. The arch support is fantastic! I have high arches and I love how these fit. I'm a true medium and these fit as expected width-wise. If you are more on the wide width, I'm not sure these would feel so good though.HOW THEY FEEL: I've worn them all day and they really feel great! No slipping in the heel area, no pressure points, the ties stay tied, they're not too heavy.I have salmon hiking boots and love how those feel and am glad I finally was able to find these. Local stores just don't carry a variety enough, especially when it comes to waterproof shoes.

Ultra-lightweight, super comfortable, versatile design
Used for hiking all over national and state parks in utah for five days with little break-in time. Was perfect. Hiked miles and miles over several days and my feet and legs felt stable, zero pain or chafing, and not tired at all. Super lightweight--honestly lighter or just as light as my trainers/running shoes. Good grip on the bottom, and conformed perfectly to my feet. Soles provide the perfect blend of support and cushioning , with moderate arch support. One of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. The style and weight makes it so versatile for athletic or even everyday use. I totally see myself using these for running/sports and I even wear them as street shoes for when I walk to the shop for groceries or and when Im running errands just cause they're so comfortable. But I would also advise anyone buying hiking/athletic shoes to first try them on and decide what works for you. For example, I tried several other salomons, merrells and columbias via prime wardrobe before finally deciding on this one. Zero regrets on my pick. I expect to be wearing these shoes for a long time.

Stiff. Uncomfortable Toe Bed
Out of the box these felt ok, but after a 4+ mile hike through a nature preserve my feet were killing me. Now the next day they still hurt. The toe bix is to narrow when the feet swell during hike. The big toe on the inner side of both feet was a hot spot in the shoe. They are light, waterproof. but very stiff and don't give at all. So there's no breaking in the shoe. Only abused feet after wearing. Might work for a very narrow foot, but not for my regular width feet. I've worn Salomon in hiking footwear and ski boots for years and these are the first pair to ever cause pain. Return on route.

Salomon Womens X Crest GTX W hiking shoe
I wear Salomon X ULTRA 3mid height boots for colder weather hiking and absolutely love them, great fit , secure footing and great looking! I tried another shoe company’s low hiker and learned a lesson the painful hard way, as after 4 months I had worn holes thru the backs of both heel cups! A 5.5mile hike and the crappy shoes did me in with huge blisters on heels and toes, bruised and blackened nails. So...Salomon to the rescue. I wanted a low version of my mid hikers, but the closest model has the new tangled lacing system. And then I found this model, light weight, great traction, fit like a glove right out of the box. Took them for spin on another 5miler hike and had no pain, even to the healing and bruised toes! Lesson learned, pay attention to your feet and your gear...good fit is absolutely key to keeping feet happy and enjoying your hikes. I wear a size 7 in these, didn’t need a wide, the heel cup cradles my heels and the toe box gives my toes enough wiggle room without letting them smash into the front of the shoe. The dusky grey color is ok, doesn’t show the trail dust. Gortex breathes great, haven’t tested them in wet yet.Bottom line, these are a great addition to the Salomon line, comfortable, secure footing and good looking shoe.

The perfect hiking boot
This shoe fits well, is waterproof, and best of all, has a nice wide toe bed. The shoe has a flexible enough sole to allow ankles, knees, and hips to function normally. I did a 15k walk in them the first day out and my feet were happy!

GREAT FOR ROUGH TERRAIN
I work at a collision center in the parts department. That involves distributing parts to the body techs and the paint department throughout the day. These shoes are perfect for me. I walk in rain, on gravel and on flat cement. I have walked in puddles of water just to test them and my feet were dry every time. Walking on gravel is easy, due to the design of the shoe. They are an amazing pair of shoes for a more than fair price. My husband purchased a pair of Soloman's for me a few years back, they were a perfect fit. These shoes are a bit bigger. I kept them so that I could wear thick socks during colder weather. However, from my experience, they are not true to size. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars.

Did not disappoint me...
New to the hiking thing...however bought this shoe that was recommended by many on a Hiking page. Loved the shoe. A little stiff in the center but I felt that was more security than a problem for me. Best thing is that I hiked many miles in these shoes on one trip, I went through puddles, mud, rocks, did inclines and declines, my feet did not slip once nor did my feet come out sweaty/damp!! I was so happy with them. The only con I found that did not have much of cushion like running shoes, but many tell me this is best for dampness etc and if I want more cushion, to add in what I want. I would ask for them to add a little more but honestly, my feet didn't come out sore either so are great!

Go up a size or half size depending on thickness of socks.
Really light and comfortable .

Not Waterproof!
Updating my original review. After only a couple months of wear these shoes are no longer waterproof. Okay in very light rain but anything heavier seeps right through the top and sides. Super disappointed these didn't even get me through the season.Original review:The fit is pretty good but there is a lot of room in the toe area and it causes a slight fold / crease at the bottom lace loop when I step. This makes a bit of a flopping sound when stepping and could be a weak spot due to the continued folding.Aside from that they are very comfortable, waterproof (been out in heavy rain and walked through puddles), grippy and warm. They are a great shoe for cooler and wet wet weather. I've gone on 10km hikes and ran in them and I've not had any discomfort.

Workhorse shoes are great performers
I spend a ton of time on my feet, walking many kilometres every day. I replace these each year, and each year, i am glad i bought the same shoe again. They are durable, waterproof, and comfortable.

Very happy.
They fit a bit big, but good with wool socks for winter. I usually have problems with my bunions, but these are very comfortable. Have hiked many miles in them. I bought ladies 11, which I usually wear.
