Perfect way to monitor your garage door, works well through walls.
This review is for the Honeywell 5822T Wireless Garage Tilt Sensor, Black .I purchased this sensor for my garage door so I could monitor it via my Honeywell Lynx 7000 alarm panel; it does exactly what it's supposed to: It alerts your panel when the garage door is open. You'll want to place it at the very top of the garage door since that's the first part which will lay horizontal when opened, otherwise you'll have a delay before the sensor reports an open door.I live in an apartment where the garage isn't attached and is about 350 feet away from my panel; I've had no issue with reception or communication between the panel and the sensor even going through several walls.

Works Perfectly
Bought this to add a Garage Sensor as part of my overhaul of a 25 year old system along with wireless glass break and wireless motion sensors. It installs easily, programs into the system quickly and has not faulted in the year since it has been installed.

Good garage door sensor - used with Vista 21ip alarm panel
While this device might not be great for everyone it met my needs perfectly. I wanted something that would alert me to the garage doors being opened and would integrate with my alarm system. I didn't want them to actually trigger the alarm. A couple of comments on other reviews:1. I don't think this thing could easily false. Perhaps in the year since that review the design has changed but this device is solid and even with shaking it hasn't falsed once on me. I have 2, one mounted on each garage door and they have worked flawlessly for over a week now.2. The necessary tilt angle to set these off is about 45 degrees. I don't think it's adjustable. As another reviewer said a typical garage door will need to go up about 1-2 feet before the sensor goes off - plenty of room to slide under. If you want notification of even a small movement in your garage door you would be better off with a magnetic sensor, much like you would use on a door or window, or a pressure plate sensor.Just in case this helps someone else with a similar desire and equipment, I hooked these up to a Vista 21ip alarm panel. I used a custom zone to produce as close to my desired behavior as possible. The custom zone programming is as follows:Custom Zone 91 (*182)Values: #12 - #10 - 0 - #12 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 - 4This shows faults and chimes while the system is disarmed but does not prevent arming of the system or trigger the alarm when armed. You can still see if the zone is open or closed from Total Connect (either phone app or web site) so it's easy to check if you garage is open or not at any time from anywhere.

Good monitor sensor
I ordered this so I would have some additional monitoring in my security system for the garage door. Some tips I have are consider the placements in my photos you can see that about 6 inches from the top translates to about 18 inches of garage door height before the tilt sensor realizes the door is open. This is about one full propane tanks height before it recognizes the sensor as tripped open.So the closer you can get this to the top the better. This is perticularly important if you occasionally leave your door partially open. We always leave it fully open or fully closed. The 3M tape is VERY strong so once you push it in place it'll be very difficult to remove.Loop 3 and garage monitor is what I set this up for and it works perfect. I have this setup to not notify the central station and local report only.I'm very happy I purchased this and wish I got it sooner.

It works exactly as intended....for a year.
I purchased several of these to use with my overhead garage doors. Out of the 2 units I purchased, 1 constantly gave false tampering faults. I attributed this to a loose garage door and possibly triggering as a result of wind. After dealing with it for a couple of weeks, I decided to purchase a replacement, which solved the issue. The 5822T's continued working flawlessly, syncing up with my Lynx 7000 system - up until about a year past. Now, it still reads when the door opens, but fails to read when the door closes. This creates an annoyance as it is constantly faulting, and even more so if your home is using this for automation. At the same time, I have several 5816 sensors, also from Honeywell. These are not tilt sensitive, but utilize two pieces to sense open and closed. They're typically used on doors and windows, but I use one on the outside of the garage and one on the door itself. The sensors read just as well and have not failed. My guess is that the tilting sensor uses contacts that move when tilted, either from use or cold weather the pieces that move end up sticking and not reading correctly.

Don't buy this it or from this company!! ...
Don't buy this it or from this company!!! The item worked well for 4 months. When it is put into monitor mode it keeps giving false alarms that the garage door has been opened when it is not been opened. The company doesn't respond to inquires and Amazon won't help since it's not a third party supplier.

Easy solution to monitoring garage door status
I own a Honeywell Vista system and this was an easy add-on for a zone that keeps an eye on whether the garage door is open or closed. (We can't easily see this and have left open overnight the garage door off our public alley more than once.). Lots online videos showing how to set it up, enroll the sensor and set up alerting notifications.

Great!
Bought this after looking online for a suitable sensor that can be added on my alarm system panel. So far it works! It was easy to install and you can search and find videos on YouTube on how to properly set it up with your alarm panel. No issues and I've had it for couple of months.

Keeps my garage safe
I have one of these installed in my garage in the event someone breaks into my car and decides to use the garage door opener. Worked with my system and works as described.
