An extremely solid introduction to yoga and subtle realities
I have come to appreciate that in the deep yogas of India, especially such as Kryia Yoga, exists profound and ancient knowledge about the reality of existence. This book is one of those rare treasures conveying masterful knowledge of the body and soul and their relationship to ultimate being. This book presents the principles of yoga but does not convey the practice of Kriya yoga itself which is best learned from a living teacher and they are around if you look. The writing style is very good being specific/technical but still being easy enough to follow that it does not become wonky.Even if you have studied Yoga and metaphysics before this book has enough depth to help remind you of the wide scope of Yoga's truths. A beginner could not pick a better book for their orientation into Yoga and the deep wisdom of India. And while you are reading this book you could do no better than listen to some of the best Yogic music around by listening to Shabda: Mantra Mysticism

Excellent
You wont be disappointed. I follow Paramahansa Yogananda and never knew that Parahamsa Hariharananda was in the line of Gurus from Babaji on down. Great book.

This big is a big letdown. It is a rehash and an amorphous mixture of poorly structured info freely available on the internet. Misleading title. A more accurate title for the book would be "Kriya yoga lineage and its benefits". Very little material about the meat of kriya yoga. Descriptions of chakras, circulation of awareness in the psychic paths around the spine, etc. are freely available everywhere. No secrets here. The author states that kriya yoga can not be learned from books. Then why write a book about it? Most of the book is devoted to his guru lineage. These details are already available in the "Autobiography of Yogi" by yogananda. Regrettably, this book does not add significantly to the info already available on the internet "kriyayogainfo.net". A better description of kriya yoga is available in the titles published by the Bihar school of yoga. The lessons in their books are distinguished for their clarity, organization and helpfulness unlike this book. Very disappointing book with disproportionate claims.

It is what it is. If you are into Kriya, this a great book to have with useful insights to focus your practice. But for the curious take note it is not a manual of the techniques of Kriya.

The encyclopedia of Kriya Yoga !
His style of writing is as clear and beautiful as his Guru's before him; Sri Paramahansa Yogananda Ji

Big let down
One of the worst books I have ever read on Kriya Yog and spirituality. It offers no technique, no great information. Sometiems it starts looking the author is self fascinating, most of the time telling his own story, loading his own photgraphs more than required, and missing out and out the real stuff. It is just unbelievable that this author belonged to Paramhans Yogananda's companionship. So far I am reaching on the conclusion that start with books of Om Swami, follow the works of Vivekananda (specially Raja Yoga), study Yogananda Paramhansa's Gita when God Talks to Arjuna, and for all practical things just go straight with Bihar School of Yoga books, more precisely Swami Satyananda's work like Yoga Nidra, Yoga and Kriya, and Asana Pranayam Mudrabandha. Thereafter only your correct understanding and practice matters only.

A Must for Spiritual Seekers
The book intelligently describes the science of KY meditation. I just love it. It's an eye opener. Worth reading if you are on path of spirituality looking for answers about the self, what happens when you meditate, and much more.
